    2015 Nautique G25/ G23 Stereo "Joke" project

    Ok,
This is my first post on the site so sorry for any Type-O's or photos that are upside down.
I just bought my 2015 G25 and was a majorly disappointed in the "Polk Audio" system that came with the boat. I would have thought for $100K a boat and all the engineering that went into the system . They would have put just a little more thought into the audio system. Obviously made a great move to JL for 2016!
So here is what I did and why.
I took out all of the factory AMP's and 6.5" JL audio system and sold it on EBAY. best place for it.
They used 4 OHM amps to power all 2 OHM speakers. Excluding the FOCAL speakers into tower that ROCK!
I replaced them with Rockford component speakers, and 3 diamond audio amps.
I cut out the "pretty" designed box they waisted fiberglass on and waisted a lot of space for storage.
They could have mounted 2 10" speakers or 2 12" speakers like I did and had more storage space.
I used one amp to power the tower speakers, I used one amp to power to the in-cabin speakers, and one 1600 watt amp to power the 2 12" subwoofers. I added the Wet-Sounds EQ to control the Bass and treble to each zone of the boat.
Don't be afraid the cut out the box, just stay away from the bulk head of the boat. Message me for any questions.

Oh by the way.. The system ROCKS!

I was under the impression from reading other posts that the sub box is a structural element of the hull / deck.

The entire box is not. You can order the G's with or without this cosmetic feature. Since it is not a real sub box. The solid black piece of that structure is for hull support etc. The fiberglass is way to thin on the face on top to be of any real support. I also only cut out a small piece of the front and top to allow more room for boards, and the amps. You can see the finished photo in my second post.

So if I'm reading this correctly, are you saying that the Polk amps are 4 ohm and the cabin speakers are 2ohm (polk cabin speakers) Just trying to clean up the system on my 230 and I'm wondering if this is similarly done in my boat as well?

The amp is stable down a 2 ohm load, meaning you can run a speaker or combination of speakers, with a nominal impedance of 2 ohm or higher.

Polk offers speaker in 4 ohm impedance and 2.7 ohm independence. When wired properly, the amp will run one or more per chnl.
