RE: Re: My Bad - do not want to hijack a thread

In 10 minutes of searching I found 2 2005's for 35k and 1 2006 for 36k. They are out there you just have to look. Besides that I am 100% positive you didn't pay more than 35k for the boat you just sold.

I am not saying that the person who purchased this boat didn't get a steal. But it is a buyers market. If you know someone that goes to auctions these boats are selling for a lot less than you would want to imagine. Drivng the value down because people got in over their head.

I have someone that is looking for my perfect boat. However python powered SAN's are a little more rare especially at Auctions.

        one last thing....

        First i said no 2006 for $35K.....
Yes there are some real good deals and i even sold an 05 for 35K.
Second if you would have put money on that bet that i just picked up that 06 for 35k or less you would have lost. I actually picked that boat up for $36K and put about $1200 into it. (now $37,200). I did not buy this particular boat from Auction.

Now concerning the auction thing.....there may seem to be some "Exceptional" deals through the auction. These boats that go through are not ready for retail sale.
Here is an example.....I picked up an 05 SAN with less than 200 Hours for a little over $29K....Sounds Great, right??? Ok, now....put in the cost of shipping......it also needed a new passenger seat and platform ($985.00), it also needed two batteries and basic maintenance ($500) it also needed all new audio equipment (amps, sub, component speakers, etc), plus any reconditioning that may be needed. This being said, I was now into the boat about $33K......So dont think that these deals your buddy is telling you about are "Lake Ready" boats!!

The last two 2006 SAN's that went through the auction went for about $33K.....they had higher hours and a regular trailer (not like the custom trailer in the pics above), and i Guarantee they needed some maintenance and reconditioning prior to being ready for the lake.....plus any auction and transportation fees.

So yes, there are better deals through the auction if you have the time and money to put into it.....But your buddy (who most likely is a car dealer, not a boat dealer) is misleading you on what your expectations might be about getting an unheard of deal.
The deals are better (obviously), but you still have to get them "Lake Ready".
I would NEVER buy one from the auction and take it directly to the lake.....have your mechanic check it out first....(the mechanics that check them out at the auction do a very basic look at it.......they basically let you know if the boat has compression or not and a basic visual inspection...do not be fooled by their inspections thinking it is ready for the lake)

These unheard of deals are like the 2005 SAN SV211 that just went through for $20K. It had freeze damage (a cracked block), missing the swim platform (about $1500 for a new one), all stereo equipment missing, no tower, etc.....So if all you see is that an 05 SV211 went through for $20K it sounds awsome........but dont be fooled!!

Hope this helps. Good luck finding what you're looking for.
