My policy extends to all seats, ski lockers, and the motorbox. I've seen others go out of their way to make sure they walk on every soft surface of a boat. Not me. I've replaced vinyl before and it's no fun.

I have so much Formula 113 on my stuff, since day one, I'm not sure that "technically" it's ever been wet, even in the water. I mean is the water actually coming in contact with the gelcoat? What would Albert say?!? Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

just fyi, it is a boat and can get wet. i thought i knew the most anal nautique guy ever, but apparently there are some more out there. ya'll need to relax some and just go with the flow. my boat lives on a trailer outside. i do what i can to keep her dry, but it's just a toy.

just fyi, it is a boat and can get wet. i thought i knew the most anal nautique guy ever, but apparently there are some more out there. ya'll need to relax some and just go with the flow. my boat lives on a trailer outside. i do what i can to keep her dry, but it's just a toy.

Just FYI, I"ll do what I like with my boat. It's MY boat. You do what you want with your's, and I promise I won't chime in my 2 cent's, or give a dam for that matter.

Sorry but I had to chime in.. Yes, its your boat and your rights... I just did a complete restore to a 1980 ski nautique, it is one of the most popular boats on the lake and would even call it one of the best looking boats out there. It is nearly perfect. I like you, am constantly wiping it down, yelling at the kids for getting it wet etc. As I think back before the restoration, I think I liked it better, it was just a boat and as much as I love it now, it did not create stress before. Like the other guy said at the end, its still a boat. Unless its a Paragon, then I would absolutely understand.

Its like the guy who eats right, does not drink, runs everyday and then dies from a freak accident or health issue at age 33. He was so worried about taking care of himself he forgot to live. You have one shot at life, live. When your on your death bed, I promise your will not even consider your boat getting wet, but I would bet you will remember the fun you had with family and friends.

Take it easy on me.... I just want a boat that was taken care of and loved, not one that has not lived or has no character. Anyway, my 2 cents, are you sure you would not be better fit in a Mastercraft? :shock:

Steve, no worries buddy. You're getting the wrong impression sir. It's not like my blood pressure rises, or my heart skips a beat if a drop of water falls from my board shorts onto the carpet runners. On the contrary, that's why I have them. I just take a little extra care while in use. Not at the expense of having a great time. Trust me sir, we have a GREAT time.

I guess because I go beyond what the overall boat owners do to theirs, it's seems.................well.....................ove rboard. But it's involuntary, happens without thinking about it, and we don't even notice it. It's routine.

And btw, I do run 10 miles a day, hit my home gym every day, at the local gym 4 times a week, eat right blah blah blah...............and I'll probably get hit by a bus. But I'll look good on the stretcher. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Just for fun...I also know Greg keeps a dehumidifier on the boat (while on the lift and under the cover).

Since the boat is located in ORL, I had to chuckle when I saw it the first time I saw it.

Whoever gets this boat will have a gem.

I love my boats. Absolutely love them. However, I do enjoy them and do not sweat everything that perhaps I should. Christening a new boat involves spilling a little beer on the floor just to get it out of the way and over with.
I just spent the entire last winter repairing/ restringing our Mustang and it is completely new on the interior. Nonetheless, I use the boat no differently than prior to that. I live in farm country so I get my share of dirt and crap on the boat in the Spring from the farmers tilling and planting, then in the Fall from harvesting. I cannot do much about it. I clean it up the best I can throughout the year, and give them each a fairly good super clean before they go in each season. I don't allow shoes, do allow beer. Don't allow doritos, but do allow food. . Nothing super sticky or nasty. I let my dog on the mustang, but not on the SAN.
Really, we can all do with our boats as we wish. I respect peoples boats as they want them treated be it like a couple of the extremes noted here. If someone treats their boat like crap, I still treat it as though it were my own.

I bought all my boats with my own hard earned money, unlike a few, and will do as I please with them. As should you all.

That's right!! We eat in our boat after 3 sets each. Put a huge thick beach towel on the sun pad, break out the food and water, crank up the tunes, and thank God for what we have.

It basically boils down to this IMVHO, stay on top of it, then it's easier to maintain that look and constant pride.

I'm NOT the ACME Judgement Co. Take care of them.............don't............it's not my business. But if I'm on someone else's' boat, whatever boat that may be, whatever shape it's in, you won't know I was there unless you have a camera. In my eyes, it's my stuff.

I wouldn't dare be that anal. As luck would have it, you'll spend all that time making sure that water doesn't come in the boat (which is a little ridiculous) and you wake up one morning only to find that the neighbors cat has taken a leak right behind the motorbox. You'll probably be on vacation when it happens so by the time you return it's a fine musty mess.

J/K - I also think it's important to keep your boats clean, however, I also think that an experiment would show NO difference in a boat that has had ZERO water compared to the one that is wiped down and dried after each use.

I thought of this thread this weekend when my boys 6 and 3 jumped back in the boat after their ski sets. "How would the dry boat rule be enforced in this situation?" I thought. Maybe leave the kids out on the platform while I motor back to the dock to drop them off where they would wait to come back aboard until all their clothes and life jackets were completely dry. This all while trying to explain to the wife why I was putting the dryness of my boat in front of her children's safety of actually being in the boat. I guess I can only dream, just ain't gonna happen for us.

IMO, anal retentiveness is a great practice which I have subscribed to for years, but there is a line that can get crossed and you will know it when no one wants to go out with you on your boat anymore because you watch them like a hawk the whole time anticpating that one of the unwritten rules will be broken. Maybe kids have loosened me up a bit as I am starting to see my toys as "tools of fun" that should be fully enjoyed, but I sure as heck am going to wipe em down and wax em up when the wife ain't lookin.

Now someone with some cash flow buy this man's franklin mint quality boat. You're getting one heck of a deal.
