    1994 Nautique Excel Priced to sell $11,200 obo

    1994 Nautique Excel, V-Drive 351 Ford with mechanical engine hatch lift, Sunplatform over engine, Surround sound Bose system, JL Audio sub, Ipod connect, Driver and rear radio remotes, Custom snap on waterProof cover, Custom collapsable tower, Bimini top, Single axle trailer with new tires (includes spare) with all boards just replaced, 4 blade prop on boat w/ backup included.     Do you happen to have any pictures of the wake? I've been seriously considering buying one of these, but do not know how the wake compares to a mid ninties v-drive super sport or an '01 super air. Any help you could provide would be awesome. Even your own description of it would help. I've never ridden behind one of these.

      I don't have any pics of the wake, but it is the standard nautique wake when weighted down. Blocky and narrow with lots of straight up pop. Good thing is that there is no wash out effect on it to limit the pop. Depending on your riding ability it is a very dependable wake that can fit the style of many riders capabilities (from beginner to advanced). When not weighted it would be similar to a v-drive style of its length/width that flattens as the speed increases.

        Scroll down a ways, there was someone selling a 90's Barefoot that had some wake pics last fall. I may have some of mine at the house. It's not a SAN, but it doesn't have that knee blowing trough either. I love mine, but haven't ever tried it with a wakeboard. The best thing though is the nice smooth ride from the deep V. If you got a crew of 4 to 6 then it works, if you tend to have more it will be tight, kids fit in the bow just fine, it's a little small for more than a couple of adults.

          I find this very hard to believe. I dont have any first hand experience with the v-drive Barefoot/Excel, but I dont believe the hull design is that far removed from the direct drive BFN (deep vee). The DD wake is marginal for wakeboarding, IMHO. While the size is there, the shape is lousy (the lip never cleans up fully) and is nothing like the proven flat bottom wakes (2001/SAN)... which makes sense, since the hull designs are completely different.

            Call it how you will, but for wakeboarding I would put the excel boat up against a mid-late 90's direct drive anyday. Capabilities for waiting the boat and the wake you get due to this do show a difference, but this difference isn't so much what you will see from a direct drive to a Super Air Nautique. As for skiing I would put the direct drive over the excel anyday. I guess it is just user preference based on room in the boat, layout area, and what you are going to be doing.
