    FS: 1988 Ski Nautique 2001

I'm listing my 1988 Ski Nautique 2001 in an effort to see what people are willing to pay for it. I'm located in Northern NJ and have owned this boat for the past 10 years and have used it on a small clean milfoil free private lake in the NY Adirondacks. The boat is stored in our garage up there, and serviced every year by Adirondack Marine.

During the Spring of 2007 we gave this thing a major facelit. We swapped the old engine out and put in an engine from a 1996 with something like only 40 hours on it, but it's still the same 351 carb. The only reason why the engine was replaced was because my Aunt bought a '96 Nautique with a 351 and had to downsize to a 6cyl 140hp engine for her lake requirements, so we took hers. The floor boards were replaced along with all the carpet, and the interior seats and engine box was reupholstered. The outside coat was also re-finished covering up any scratches. All the work was done by Offshore Marine in Branchville, NJ. The boat has a full stereo system in it installed by Adirondack Marine, along with a Perfect Pass.

It has over 1,100 hours and runs absolutely flawlessly. It starts every time and needs absolutely nothing. The trailer is also in great shape for its age too. The boat has a factory dual exhaust and sounds badass.

(Adirondack quoted me $8K for a trade in, so I wouldn't really go below that, but I figured I'd post it and see what bites)

If interested, shoot me a PM with your email and we'll go from there. Thanks!

My advice would be to take that $8k trade in offer and RUN! Adirondack is usually very generous with their trade in offers, and this seems exceptionally generous to me.

The new LH engine out of the '96 is more of a detractor than a bonus, unless you got the 1.23 tranny with it. The 2001 was built to turn a RH prop.

There are no "floorboards" in a Nautique- the floor is glass over foam. If the floor was soft, then there was rot and wet foam underneath... and if the stringers were not replaced along with the "floorboards" then a band aid fix was performed. The clock is ticking on the rest of the structure.

Regarding the "outside coating" being "refinished", you'll want to clarify. If the original gelcoat was restored (wetsanding, buffing) then that is a good thing. If you had it painted, that is another minus.

Regardless, Id take Adirondack's offer on that boat every day of the week and twice on Sunday! $8k is the higher end of the market on even the cleanest 2001's... and Im not sure I would lump your boat into that category. Just my 2 cents!

The exterior wasn't painted, it was restored, and we did get the tranny with the engine. It's tough to tell what it looks like from the pictures, but the boat is mint. The restoration cost about $15K and I could dig up the invoice and scan it so everyone can see exactly what has been done to it. We have been close friends with the family who owns Adirondack for the past 20 years now and they have been nothing but good to us, and we actually got this boat from them back in 2002.

I just posted her on a few sites to see if there is anybody out there who really wants the boat. I'm most likely not going to do the trade in because I'm looking for a certain kind of boat, so unless Adirondack gets one in, there's nothing to trade. This is a beautiful boat and doesn't look dated like all the previous 2001's, but you really have to see it to appreciate it! You can tell from the pics that it's a beautiful boat in great shape, with an awesome color combo!

Thats a good trade offer, but they will probably make up a little bit by not going as far off on the new boat. I would say for a clean 88', 6k maybe. 89 had the power plus tranny and was a good selling point. I like the sound of the dual exhaust though...

I agree, that would probably be the case with most dealers- but that has NOT been my experience with Adirondack! Somehow they have a great used market up there. I know several people who have traded in on new boats, and got good deals both coming and going. Very atypical! My family has done business with the Roaches for a long time as well... starting with my uncle in 1990.

Great to hear that the boat has the 1.23 trans- you should mention that in the ad, as its a huge selling point. Also glad to hear it hasnt been painted! I stand by the comments about the floor replacement though... Ive yet to see one done to very high standards. The "pro" jobs are generally the worst!

I still think that $8k trade in offer is more than you would likely get in the open market, and you should RUN with it, if the right boat comes in. My buddy has a CLEAN '86 and will be listing it for sale this spring for $7500.

I appreciate your kind words man, the Roach family are very great people, and Jeff is hands down the best mechanic in the Northeast! I'd love to take their offer, but I need something to trade in for it ya know? So I'm just trying to gauge interest right now and see who's looking for a boat just like mine, I've posted it on a few sites.
