^^ I suppose I could pull a bolt from the motor mounts, but I'm not that interested in finding out on a boat I'm selling. Always the possibility of it not setting properly when re-installing and I don't care to open that can of worms.

^ Good post. You may be right on the tooling requirements. I wish Correct Craft had been a little more clear in the brochure from that year rather than making us infer that the Barefoot Nautique/Nautique Excel didn't get ICS, but it makes sense based on what you said. You learn something new every day.

All points aside, I have yet to hear of anyone having issues with stringers on a late-model Barefoot/Excel. Yes, it is yet to be proven what material was used on the stringers, but there are plenty of them out there and no documented cases of stringer rot in these specific boats. You've got a great looking boat, best of luck with the sale, I'm really surprised it hasn't sold already.

^ Thanks bhectus. I'm surprised it hasn't sold as well. I'm getting 4-7 calls and twice as many e-mails a week about it, but I've only had one test drive. I had a guy call on Wednesday of last week and tell me he was coming Saturday with $100 bills. He ended up being a no show.

I'm starting to wonder if it would be an easier sell in Raleigh. I'd prefer to sell it at Lake Gaston just because that's where I'll be on weekends when most boaters are wanting to do a test drive. Plus I have a ramp less than 200 yards away from where I park the boat, so it's a whole lot easier than trailering around Raleigh. It's a whole lot harder to get people from Raleigh or Richmond to drive ~80 miles to Lake Gaston, but I can't imagine it being a deal breaker for someone who is really interested.

just sold my '95 sunsetter, had nautiques before the malibu, liked the boat fine, however, the first time I ran down the lake w/ small wind blown ripples I thought I had a major engine vibration, figured it out and learned to live w/ it, nice boat other than that and I enjoyed it

WTF is that supposed to mean? You obliviously haven't been in a Barefoot/Excel hull which rides smoother than anything they made until mid 2000's when the much larger boats began to appear (220/226/230) Do most Nautiques ride rougher than a flimsy Malibu? Absolutely, they're much stouter built boats. I would put the Excels ride up against almost every 22 ft'er out there.

What was your goal with this statement, in a for sale thread; on a Nautique forum?

I guess I did not explain this very well as I was trying to say the sunsetter had the vibration in it I have never had that problem with my Nautiques and it was something I had to get use to sorry for the misunderstanding

Ha...I had the same experience. I bought my Malibu with a dinged prop which I sent in for repair before I started running the boat. The first time I got out on the water I thought I still had a driveline vibration, but it was just small wind chop translating through the floor in a way that I had never experienced on my Nautique. The Malibu has a lot of nice features and I don't mean to put it down, but I'm already thinking about my next boat and I want it to be another Nautique if possible.

I agree fully. Most people can't believe how well my Excel soaks up severe chop. It's a very good ride. I'd like to see one with wraparound seats and front/rear ballast plumbed in.
