Hey Gasman, my opinion for what it's worth. Great lookin ride, you in put lots of time, effort, money, not to mention the thought process. Hold onto it for another season or two, get some rewards for your efforts, than look for a nice, used G. I'm sure there are gonna be a few of them out there for sale when the craze settles down a bit. (I you do decide to sell, good luck)!

That's true...and they always seem to be "expensive" there IMO. Unlike Florida where the rich folks give away their used boats.

One general idea on nice boats we all should consider...but I know its hard to do. Long ago when I still lived on the coast in South Texas, I went on a sail with a man reaching retirement probably turning 50...on a very large new-to-him sail boat that needed the interior upholstery redone. I was amazed at the size/cost of this boat and he had the same job as my dad so I'm wondering WTF? and how he managed that. I think the boat was 38' or more and had a huge beam and a tall mast.

He told me that "long ago" he got a good deal on an 18' day sail that needed some fixing up. He bought it...washed it/cleaned it/etc. and then went and bought a nice "FOR SALE" sign for it and mounted it in a conspicuous but convenient location for him. His boat stayed in the public marina. He enjoyed the boat for a while and fixed it up, spent some time and money on it (AS WE ALL DO), ....and later in the year....the phone rang with someone who found the perfect boat...HIS !!!

My friend was without a boat for a short time, but looked around for his upgrade....found what he wanted. A boat that was being advertised for quick sale...probably out of desperation....divorce...bankruptcy...moving...or a rich guy upgrading, etc. My friend inspected the boat...knew his business....and negotiated a great deal.

I'm going to paste in the paragraphs above: He bought it...washed it/cleaned it/etc. and then went and bought a nice "FOR SALE" sign for it and mounted it in a conspicuous but convenient location for him. His boat stayed in the public marina. He enjoyed the boat for a while and fixed it up, spent some time and money on it (AS WE ALL DO), ....and later in the year....the phone rang with someone who found the perfect boat...HIS !!! So my friend told him a crazy price, they agreed and the boat was sold for a price much higher than he paid for it. My friend was without a boat for a short time, but looked around for his upgrade....found what he wanted....and negotiated a great price.

            Lather...rinse....repeat as needed.

So....over the years....he acquired and sold many boats. The key part was....the boat he had each time was "always for sale" and in great operating condition/cleanliness ....waiting on the right buyer. I asked him if he ever figured out how much capitol he had in his boat and he didn't know. The majority of the expense was "operating it"...but he did tell me that most of the time he was able to buy the next (bigger) boat for less than he sold the old one. Mainly because of the timing of the sell and the improvements (usually just TLC) to the boats. He was always selling a clean boat to an eager buyer with the itch and buying from a neglecting liquidator. As his boats got bigger, ....sometimes they were for sale for several years and many low offers were refused. I think at some point, he started putting the price on the sign.

The man has to be in his 70's now. I should ask my dad what size his sailboat is today. He might be living in it.

Great looking boat and very 'tasteful' upgrades. Of course I am biased but I think you are under estimating the value of your boat at 45k. For starters, see what that same money can buy in any other model in the Nautique lineup. Then compare things like space, storage, and wake. Since you mentioned NSS, I would assume surf wake is important. The only other model that competes there is a G and maybe a 230 but they are 2x and 3x the price. If a G is what you are after, by all means go for it. I had a chance to drive and ride behind one last year. Great boat but thought it odd to find the stock wake to be about as finicky as my 220 and you had to balance the weight the same. I would also discount the previous example of chrome on a HD since everyone already does this it's expected. None of your upgrades would be expected. Good luck with your sale.

Airtool, I've made money on each of the last 3 Nautiques I've bought and sold, following pretty close to the same mantra. Currently looking for my 5th Correct Craft but looking for my "forever boat".
