Newbie Owner - Advice Needed - Parts Needed

So I recently bought a 1993 Ski Nautique (Red & Gray). Some TLC and parts are needed but she runs pretty good! I need to replace the steering cable, should I use OEM or aftermarket parts and are there in improvements i should be doing. Best engine upgrades? Im going to have it re-gel coated. Im also looking to install a stereo, is the alternator sufficient? Also what are the best speaker locations and what subs has anyone had the best luck with? I want to use one of those compact speedo replacement stereo head units, yes? no? As for parts Im looking for a new dash (sounds like everyone is) either custom made or original a good tower (possibly) and just a good all around place to order bits and pieces.

    Any help is much appreciated
    Bill

Great looking boat! Congrats on the new ride! There are better experts than I on the replacement parts for your boat on this forum.

I always liked the 4 speakers in sides on those boats, 2 in the back 2 in the front. Perhaps a speaker pod for the driver to aim the speaker up, and a sub under the bow. If you are not powering many extra speakers, I would imagine that alternator is sufficient.

I notice you looking for a tower possibly. Have you seen this?Click image for larger version

I run a JL Marine M700/5 with an Eclipse head unit a 12" subwoofer and 4 internal speakers with one battery and the stock alternator with no problem. You definitely want to use the OEM steering cable. it is 6" shorter and is the only one that fits. Order it from one of the sponsors. Being a skier I can't comment t the best tower, but the one Ridebutter shows looks good.

Feel on the backside of the combing pads and you might find existing cut outs for speakers. Our 1990 Sport came without a stereo but still came from the factory with those cut outs, just covered in vinyl.

For parts check out Nautiqeparts.com. Use discount code PND to get 10% off your order.

New dimension towers makes a custom tower that matches your boat perfectly.
