I bought this boat over the summer, drove down to Virginia to get it. It has been great (and it was a dream of mine for sometime to own a Super Sport or OG SAN 210) but I've upgraded to the bigger Nautique SAN 230 as my family has grown over the winter. I have toyed with the idea of keeping the boat but with 3 kids I barley have the time for 1 boat.
I am the second owner and the boat was very well kept. Engine starts and runs great and has great compression (had it tested when I bought it). All dash gauges work. NAV lights went out at the end of the summer and I haven't had a chance to investigate the issue.
The Good
The arguably best wake boarding hull in this price range. Would need to spend twice as much to upgrade. Boat is fully loaded with Extras
- GT40 Engine (310 HP) Fuel Injected
- Perfect Pass Wakeboard Edition
- Boss Tower
- Polk Tower Speakers in kicker enclosures.
- Polk 4 channel Amp
- 1996 Ramlin Trailer in great condition (Needs new tires)
- Wake board racks
- 2 x 400# ballast bags and pump.
- 1 X 700 Belly Bag
- Brand New Tower Bimini with Surf Pockets
- Sunbrella bow and cockpit covers.
- Teak swim Platform
- New 644 prop and spare original prop.
Boat is is mostly original but a couple things worth pointing out that are not original
- Tower was not included in the 1996. Tower is also a Boss and has a similar look the the flight control but is different.
- I replaced the one Airguide with a Perfect Pass unit. I have a replacement unit available but it needs a new face.
- I replaced the Sun pad and went with all white eliminating the original grey and red stripes.
The Bad
Vinyl is in pretty good condition. I replace some of the worst pieces last year (sun pad and 4 or the seat bottoms). In most pics you will see missing seat pieces. These were all re-upholstered last year but I never put them back in the boat so I don't have pics of them but they all look new. There are a couple left with some issues, I have tried to highlight these in the picture album linked below.
- The stern seat backrest has a few black marks on the top, not exactly sure what they are from but I think they are due to people climbing onto the sun deck. They were there when I got the boat.
- The observer seat bottom has some small tears in the stitching.
- Bow filler cushion needs to be replaced.
- The starboard side stern seat bottom Vinyl is a little weathered and has cracks in the base. The seat is still usable but the cracks make the seat a little unstable.
- There are some small cracks under the open bow backrests but these are small and cannot be seen with the filler cushion in place.
Also the carpet is in average condition.
The Ugly
The boat does have some spider cracks in the hull bottom (see the pic). I have had these looked at by a few experts and the consensus is that they are not structural and are most likely caused by the gel being a little thick on the bottom. While the problem is repairable, since the cracks cannot be seen it's not worth the cost (2k to 3k) to repair. I was told to monitor the cracks and only repair ones that were getting bigger. This is not uncommon in boats from this era.
Overall the rest of the gel is in excellent condition besides one spot near the back of the boat where I hit an unprotected dock and a couple scratches on the keel from loading onto the trailer.
PM me for contact details and I can send more pictures if you need. I am also happy to discuss the boat and any questions you may have if you are new to boating, wake boarding or surfing. Once the weather warms up I am happy to take serious buyers for a test drive.
