We hope to have her boating pretty soon, but we don't need that much boat for once or twice a month.Hopefully the boat will go to a caring,loving home & we'll get something that won't make me feel guilty if we aren't using it that often.

We don't have kids yet, but are thinking about it soon. This year we were able to get out on the lake 3 times. Yes 3 times all year! If I was smart I would sell the boat, but those 3 times were great, and I hope to be able to use it more this next year. Even if we don't use it more, knowing that I can use it gives me some sense of satisfaction. I grew up around water, boating, and my grandparents had a lake house, so I spent almost all summer on the water. For me, I just can not imagine not giving that same opportunity to our kids when we have them. I former neighbor has a BU, and had a child about 3 years ago. They have their 2nd on the way right now. It was not 4 months after they bought their boat when they found out she was pregnant, and they decided to keep the boat. The next year they though about selling it since they did not use it much that year, but decided to keep it since they would not be happy with less of a boat, and they could not afford to buy another one like theirs (or more appropriatly could not justify the expense). Now they are happy they kept the boat, and just chalk up the lost usage during the baby stage as another cost of ownership.

IMPO, if money is not the big issue, and it is guilt for non usage, keep the boat. The guilt for selling will be much bigger than the guilt of letting it sit unused.
