    Cabo,

Very nice boat. I am in the market for something similar. Couple of questions:

    1. What is the lengh from the bow (absolute tip of the nose) to where the trailer breaks away? The boat will be stored in my garage so total length is important, I can figure total length with this measurement from you...

    -anyone-

    2. What is "dripless packing gland"?
    3. What are the differences between the 2005 and 2006/07 SV-211's?

    Thanks.

      Justin,

I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. My boat is on my covered slip on a hoist now so I can not measure the specifics exactly. If we are close, I can put it on the trailer when I go to the lake this weekend and get exact numbers. I called my dealer and he said the boat is 20 foot, 9 1/2 inches long. He thought with the tongue turned and the back platform off, it would be about 8 more inches. That should put it about 21 1/2 foot.

As per the dripless package gland, I will try my best. This is a packing where the shaft goes into the boat. Most boats use a cheaper process but CC has used this packing gland as an option and it keeps the underneath part of the boat dry. He said they will not order a Nautique without it.

Changes my dealer said from 2005 to 2006/7...Not much in 2006. In 2007 he said they are changing the gauges a little, speaker fittings, inside stripes on the interior, and how the seats sit in the boat. Sounds cosmetic. There may be a few other changes and I'm sure someone else will touch on it as well.

Let me know if you need more information.

The dripless packing gland uses some water from the engine cooling to keep the packing lubricated, and uses a special packing material that should not need adjustment. The standard gland uses a wax rope material wraped around the shaft to seal the hole where it goes thru the hull. This requires that it have a small amount of water "drip" past to ensure the packing is lubricated and cooled. Hence the better version is the dripless version. Also the wax rope does need the nut tightened down occasionally, and the rope needs to be replaced when there is no adjustment left. On a v-drive the packing gland is under the engine, and access is a nighmare, so the dealer is smart to order that on all v-drives. On a direct drive the packing gland is easily accesses, so it is not that big of a deal to keep it maintained.
