As far as I remember that was msrp for that year and my local dealer offered one for sale. But everything is different now.

No kidding. Expect this trend to continue with inflation ramping up. The only thing that may stop the trend is the projected $4/gallon gas coming our way this summer.

a.klos... And I'm sure if you listed your 2002 SS right now you would be asking MSRP from 2002. It's just the way it is right now and the bottom line is CC/Nautiques hold value better than any other!!! Asking and getting are two different things lol.

I think his statement is just a recollection of what the boat sold for new and not some derogatory comment or criticism of the pricing. I have to say I have no idea what is or isn't a good price these days and not that long ago I considered myself really good at it. At least with MCs and Nautiques as I've been known to buy and turn over the "right" boat from time to time.

To the statement above..... In the fall while attending our annual winterization and boat layup gathering with some friends and neighbors, I was asked what I would sell my boat for. This isn't that unusual as most people who know me know I turn boats over fairly frequently or will have one waiting in the wings should the right opportunity come along. I'm sure the couple 3 beers didn't help but I threw out a ballpark number that was $15K more than I purchased the boat for in 2019 figuring that would be a safe number that would brush back most from consideration (this was of course was preferenced with "if I were going to sell"). I got a call from 2 of the neighbors the next day looking to lock in a deal. I'm still considering selling but what I quickly found out was to find a boat in near the same condition or one I could buy cheap enough to get in that condition would be really tough to do in this market especially when you add in the 6% sales tax that Michigan has on everything. The tax wasn't that big of a deal on the $15K to $20K boats I used to play with flipping but when you get into the $50K to $70K price range it really starts becoming a serious consideration. To that point if you want to flip something in that range you have to factor in the $3K to $4K tax you're going to lose in the transaction.

So based on this experience I'd have to say you have to be aggressive if you're going to sell these days, at least at first and definitely in the spring. I hate seeing the prices get so crazy but at the same time that's the game right now. And as I've heard said.... don't blame the player, blame the game.

I am to blame as I didn't scroll completely to right to see his last sentence. "But everything has changed." My intentions were not to be negative. We can agree that the market is warped across all systems of our lives. BTW my next boat will be a 2009 or later 200 Sport Nautique!!

As long as the size works for you I don't think you can go wrong with a Sport 200. I love mine which is why it's hard to let it go unless I got the right price. The problem I'm running into is the right price seems to be a upward moving target.

The only reason I would sell is that I've always liked bringing boats back to life and find nearly as much enjoyment doing so as I do actually using them. I love seeing all the boat Jeff gets and the work he does getting them back to where they should be.

I definitely appreciate people reviving life into boats! I like a small crew. Getting older I want to slalom more but still have a favorable wakeboarding wake and both tied into the same boat. The 200v fits that I feel!
