1988 ski nautique 2001 possibly for sale (perfect condition)

Hey, I'm trying to see how much I can get for my 1988 ski nautique 2001. It has a brand new engine in it from a 1998 ski nautique that my aunt bought and she gave me her engine with less than 100 hours on it because her lake doesnt allow V8's. Last year the boat had the engine put it, perfect pass pro, all brand new apolstry, carpet, floorboards and platform. The hull was repainted and is in perfect condition, no scratches, no dings no chips, nothing. Theres an 800 watt stereo system installed, its got a kick *** bazooka sub, with a boss tower and board racks. There are also 2 adaptors underneath the dash for use for an ipod or watever. the boat was restored to its original colors, it was never abused and has always been very well taken care of and garage kept. I only have one picture of it right now, but I can assure you that the boat is flawless. I would take a bunch more but I am in Arizona right now for school but the picture is very good quality and shows the whole boat (airial photo) I put $15,000 into it last year with the whole engine swap and all the other work. It truely is a beautiful boat. The hull itself has 800 hours on it but the engine has less than 100 and it shows, it really performs great. It has 260 hp compared to the original engine which had 240 hp. If you could let me know how much I could get for it, or if anyone would like to make an offer to buy it, I would really appreciate it. It is maintained every year at Adirondack Marine on Lake George in upstate NY. Thank you... ok the site wont let me attach the photo because it says its too big, so hook me up with your email address and I will email you the picture as soon as I get your address. Thank you
also, the trailer is in great shape as well

not the entire hull, just the blue stripe was redone because it was starting to look faded throughout the years and new decals were put on it, the same as the original

If youre looking for opinions on value, check this recent thread:

            http://planetnautique.com/index.php?...ic&t=10203

In my opinion, its worth $8.5-9.5k, assuming the interior and hull are as nice as you describe. It would have been worth up to $12k if it were truly mint, but the tower, paint, stereo, and a motor that spins in the wrong direction (unless it has the accompanying 1.23 tranny) are all detractors. General upkeep does not increase value- thats just part of owning a boat. You do have perfectpass and the fact that it was maintained by Adirondack working in your favor, though.

here ill send you a picture because it wasnt painted, i screwed that up, if you think i could get a better price for it without the tower than i will remove it, but the stereo is a great thing to have in a boat. it didnt come with one in 1988, so who wouldnt want to listen to music on the water? the motor and tranny are in perfect working condition, I didnt have a problem with it all summer. Im a sole wakeboarder and this boat doesnt cut it for me, my father wants to give it another summer but that will only depreciate the value more. He is inlove with the boat and he should have thought twice before putting 15K into it making it immaculate. let me know what you think, thanx for the reply

actually, in the past couple of years, these boats have increased in value by about 125% u never know what the future has in store for a 2001......

The problem isnt working or not- the direction of rotation is simply wrong if you actually replaced it with an engine from a '98 Nautique. Prior to '89, all CC motors were RH, while all boats with the 1.23 are LH. Putting a LH motor into a 1:1 boat means it turns a LH prop, so the boat will list to the starboard under power.

Im not much of a wakeboarder, but youre the first person Ive heard mention that the 2001 wake is holding you back. Others here compare it favorably to the original Super Sport/SAN wake. That is largely the reason that the price of these boats has remained constant (or risen) over the last few years- that and their reasonable price.

These forums are more than just a marketplace- theres a lot of info here. Do yourself a favor and do some reading. Figure out exactly what you have (is it painted or not?). Then YOU will be able to determine a reasonable asking price for your boat.

If he was expecting to get his money back, then thats true. On the other hand, many of us have more invested into our boats than we could possibly hope to recover. Its all part of the game.

yea thats it, haha good find. TRBenJ said he will post the picture on the site for me. I will have several more in a few weeks. I'm just hoping to get a resonable offer on the boat that will satisfy my father. Yea the boat next to it is his other boat, which is a 2003 ski nautique. Hes a high ranking competition skiier and Im a wakeboarder haha

Wow, CQ- I couldnt even tell that was a boat, let along a CC!

Doug, if you could get some clarification on the engine and prop (take pics) that would be good. Im glad to hear it wasnt painted- the light blue and cream hull are very sharp looking.

Perhaps I am overstepping my bounds, but this is a public forum, and you asked for opinions. Rather than trying to sell the boat that your dad apparently bought, refurbished, and loves, and that you apparently don't actually own, you might want to write him a thank you note for granting you access to such a fine boat and leave it at that.

This is slightly off-topic I suppose, but are the decals that were on the '88 (the kind that somewhat fade from bottom to top) still available somewhere? I've heard that they are not. It looks like the decals on this boat are slanted the wrong way, and if I were to buy the boat, it would annoy me until the correct ones were on there.

hey man thanx for posting the picture for me, i appreciate it, im going to have lots more in a few weeks of everything inside and out... My dads up for selling it because he realizes that it could be in the hands of someone else, its not a wakeboard boat and thats what its used for. hes going to use the money he gets for this boat to get an actual wakeboard boat; and believe me i am very grateful for having it and i loved it all the years ive had it but its too small now and not having an open bow is really a drag. but as far as the decals, when i got the boat i took the decals off and last year the dealership ordered those new ones and put them on, they look exaclty the same as the old ones did.
