    Mid 90's Nautique

I have been looking for a couple of months for mid 90's nautique in the range of 10-13k. I have found a couple boats that I think are a good deal, but I have a dilema and hoping to get some advice. Would it be better to get a boat that needs a little work (upholstry, detailed,...) for a lower price, or go ahead and pay a little more and get one that has already gotten new upholstry, and so on. Also, would you rather a boat with original motors and high hrs (500-700 range) or a boat with a new/rebuilt engine with lower hours? I plan on having the boat for 2-3 yrs and then buy a newer one.
    Thanks ahead for any replies.

ericv09, those are all great questions, but only you can answer them. Are you a grease monkey? How much spare time and money do you have? To some the low cost is key, others don't want a project boat. I personally have two small kids and don't have time to do exercise, much less work on a boat.

Thanks for the replies. Very nice looking Sport you have drifter, but I am leaning more toward the closed bow.

Good advice SkiTower, I have 2 children as well, but I work from home so it gives me a little more free time, but I hate to waste to spare time working on something, had rather be playing.

There are pro's and cons to both ways of going about it but ultimately you have to decide whats best for you.

when i bought my boat I wanted a cheaper purchase price so I got one in need of new upholstery at a lower price with plans to save up and do the upholstery myself at a later time. I liked this way because 1) it saved me cash on the front end, although I'll probably pay more for it later, and 2) I get to do it exactly how I want it now. But I also enjoy working on my things and I plan to keep it for longer than your planning on doing.

I would rather have an original tranny/motor at 700 hours thats been well maintained than a rebuilt one at lower hours. There is a reason the motor had to be replaced and most of the time that says something about the condition of the rest of the boat and how it was cared for.

            just my .02

Thanks for the info Chris, I am leaning toward finding a boat with original motor and original hours.

                1997 SNOB for sale

I have a 1997 SNOB for sale. $12000 firm. Upholstry redone 3 years ago. this boat is ready. Just turn the key. It is detailed, and checked out. The only thing it needs is a speaker. Pictures are listed on this site and at slakemarine.com I am the original owner and have purchased a new boat. This ski nautique open bow is loaded and is 19'6 long. This boat is currently at my house in SC.

                  Eric,

I tried several times to e-mail direct but it won't go through. I have posted my 97 snob on the website. I believe you are looking for a closed bow. The snob has the exact same hull as the closed bow. CC moved the helm back about 6 inches and provided a play pen area for extra passengers. The open bow makes it easier to attach the barefoot boom.

                  cheers.
