We went from a 94 205 to a 06 SAN 210. We went from no kids to 3 and now that the twins are 2 I was back in the game. Looked for a x1 or older x2 but researched and fortunately was not biased to a brand though wanted cc or mc. i could not be happier with this nautique. We are wannabes at best who enjoy everything but are great at nothing on the water. Space and growing family we're the ONLY reasons we got out the 205.
Skiing can be done but definitely at rec level. Boarding is great and surfing improved every time out. I loved the handling of the prostar, fun to just cruise as it handled like a race car compared to friends x10 and other bigger newr boats I was in. I would say the biggest surprise and what impressed me the most was how this boat handles. Maybe it was a secret that all nautique owners take for granted but coming from the "dark side" I have to say it was the most under sold feature/bonus to getting into correct craft. And I have friends with xstars and vlx, response, möbius ect and I enjoy them all.. It is a great all around boat with space, coolers, ballast, performance and for 30k I feel like we got a lot boat when compared to what similarly equipped new boats command. Plus the season is short and we are only home for 8 weeks to further justify our budget, which also seems close to yours.
    good luck with your purchase-

Well folks, I ended up buying an 2002 xstar with 190 hours and all the bells and whistles of the time including upgraded ballast that makes it a wake surfing beast (or so I am told by the dealer I bought it from...and I do believe him as he has been around awhile and has a good rep). Empty the ballast and I have a slightly larger wake than my 94 prostar 205. I was looking at an 06 SAN 210 and an 06 211 however they were significantly more money. Paid 27K for the xstar and pick it up tomorrow. I also love the look of the boat, solid black, no side decals just a simple "Mastercraft" at the stern sides. Also has upgraded stereo and in near mint condition, as good as it gets for a 11 year old boat. Thanks for all the posts here, this MC just felt right, you know when that sense hits you can ignore it.

What dealer did you go to that had that deal?
I'm in Calgary and have been lookin for several weeks. Obviously my online search isn't enough. Was this advertised online?
