Need a trailer or a rebuild

I have a 1999 Correct Craft Air Nautique single axle trailer needing brakes and new wood/carpet step plates. the rest of the trailer is great. Who would rebuild a trailer? Is there a template for the pressure treated plywood where i could attack it myself? WHat about rebuilding the surge brakes?
    Ideas are most welcomed...

    Thank you,

    Keith

It depends on what brakes are installed. Who made the trailer? Pictures would help. Rebuilding it shouldn't be that hard.

I just redid the carpet on my trailer bunks. The bunks were pressure treated 2x4's - one side (top) had it's edges beveled.

I'd pull one off if you're able to and start taking things apart and see how it was put together. Then you just copy the design and make a new one, assuming you're handy. That's what I did for my trailer bunks. I had no idea how it would work out, but just got into it and it all made sense when I had taken the carpet off.

If the frame is in good shape and not rotting out I would probably rebuild. Without knowing what's wrong with your surge brakes it's tough to suggest how to fix. It could be as simple as an adjustment or a fluid change and bleeding them but even replacing lines and brake shoes is pretty straight forward and not too cost prohibitive. If you wanted you could upgrade to a disk system. Companies such as Tie Down and Kodiak sell kits that come with everything you need to convert (coupler, backup solenoid, lines and brakes) for about $400-600 last time I looked.

I am not sure if your bunk carpet and/or bunks need replacing but if so you can get the carpet from Nautiqueparts.com. For the step boards I think I am going to use a composite material such as King Starboard so I don't have to worry about them rotting out again. At this point my carpet covered plywood is still in good enough shape for me to use as a template so that is what I plan to do. I hope to attack this project at some point mid-summer when my boat will be in the water for a few days. If you need I can probably trace a template on some butcher paper and send it to you? Here is some more info on the Star Board:

Thanks guys. Yes, all good info. The metal is rusted out almost to the point that the wood or Starboard will have nothing to bolt too. I plan to dive into it soon so we will see just how bad. Thanks.
