I'm pretty new to the boating world in Greensboro, NC. Currently, I own an IO and looking to make the move to a V-drive. I would prefer a Nautique or boat of similar quality that is a good all around ski, wakeboard, wakesurf, boat, preferably with built in ballast, perfect pass etc... We are a family of 5 with 3 teens and enjoy bringing others along so I would prefer something in the 10 passenger capacity. Budget $25k or less. Looking for your suggestions on the right boat for my family and of course, if you have one or know of one for sale. Thanks in advance.

If you want a v-drive there are some awesome Nautiques in those years, but none will be good ski boats. All-around when it comes to combining skiing, wakeboarding, and surfing doesn't work all that well. If you want to slalom the wakes on the v-drives will defeat you. I'm not saying to not get a v-drive, just that there are limitations on what each boat type can do. A direct drive will ski great, and can be made to wakeboard well and surf ok (maybe) with a lot of ballast but won't be as good as the v-drive for those uses.

Sure, no problem. A 210 (/SAN) would be probably be your choice given your budget, but don't expect to put 10 people in there. It seats up to 7 kind of comfortably. More is of course possible but I wouldn't recommend to do that on a regular basis. Awesome boats though, super well built, and one of the best wakes.

The 2002 SAN is USCG rated for 9 and that's on a good day. You might wanna go sit in one and honestly figure out if that boat will work for you. Teenagers are usually willing to squish into smaller spaces without complaining. We have 4 kids and our 2005 SAN worked great for us until our kids were grown up and wanted their own personal space. That boat should get you through the teen years just fine and then you'll want something bigger if your kids remain interested. Good luck with your purchase.
