I am somewhat familiar with that particular boat. I almost bought it back in August. It was part of an estate, and it was kind of in pieces at the time. I was all set to pay $4,000 for the boat, but someone beat me to it. It needed next to nothing to be as nice as it is now. It needed a good cleaning, and a sensor replaced on the engine. The current seller is trying to make a big profit, but that's OK. The boat is probably worth the asking price. The hours are very low, and it is a rare 176 with a GT-40. They didn't make many of those.
Be aware that it is missing the back seat as well as both of the side panels. The current seller says it was ordered without the back seat, but I doubt that's true. I think the original owner misplaced it along with the side panels when all of the interior was removed in his garage. Even if the boat had been ordered without a back seat, it would have had the side panels from the factory. The trailer is a little weird, but looks like it would probably work OK.
By the way, the 176 in general is a cool little boat! I love mine (mine is an Air Tique 176, with the extended pylon and air graphics), and I have a friend in Virginia who just bought a SN 176 too. They are little rocket ships, and they ski great.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.
