Can I ask why you are looking for a PRO Air. Ever driven one? Ever driven one over 30 MPH?

I echo the reservations above on the Pro Air. I have owned 20 Nautiques since 1987 and 5 or 6 were new, but never a Pro Air. CC would still be making them if they would sell.

I want a direct drive with a good wake board wake and versitility for slalom and barefoot. I like the pro airs because for the most part they came with all of the options where as the air/sports that are on the market have alot of aftermarket add ons such as ballast and towers. I also think the TWC hull throws a bigger wake than the Sport/Air hull.

WOW Nautiqueman - That is a lot of Nautiques.

NaughtyNautique - I make it a point not to talk bad about Nautiques. They are still the best boats on the market. If memory serves correctly they only made the Pro Air in 98, 99 and 2000 was a special order. All I will say is you should drive, Slalam, Foot and board behind one. I think you will have a different impression and my comments as well as Nautiquemans will make more sense. Listen for the hull slap at about 30MPH and sometimes vibration. That boat was only meant to go 16-28 MPH and that is where that step chime works the best. It is a good Wakeboat. Defined wake. I would hate to see you pass up a good Sport/Air (center motor), 216 waiting for a Pro Air.

Nothing wrong with an aftermaket tower. They look great and sometimes better.

This is just my 2 cents.

I am in the market for the same type of boat as you Naughty and I first looked at the Pro Air. One comment I have heard from current and former Pro Air owners was that it is a bit tough getting Perfect Pass to work consistently. Comments were that the step chine causes some turbulence around the paddle wheel.

Now once spring rolls around (or when I sell my current I/O, whichever comes first) I will be looking for either a 2000-2003 Air or a Sport. I've heard lots of good things about both of these models and they seem to provide the best balance of boarding and skiing. Good luck with the search.

I am not totally against the Sport/Air. If I found a nice one close I would definitely go for it but it would have to have ballast and a tower. I really do have my heart set on the Pro Air though.

The Air's or Sports were available from the factory with ballast and tower, I ordered my 99' Air with TSC hull, Tower, Ballast, PP, heater, shower, etc., the same options were available with the Pro, Air or Sport. I have also seen sports with factory ballast and no tower.

As far as the wake differance between a air and a pro air, I couldn't tell any differance, but we were only wakeboarding. The differance I did notice was that a Pro Air would Not pass up a gas station. It drank alot of gas, and then gas was like $1.65 or so but at $3 ish a gallon it would be a tough.

2 More sense. I had a 2000 Sport N which I took the factory ballast out. If I remember correctly it was only good for 400 LBS. I replaced with a fatsak which was 650, plus when it was not used I had lots of storage.

Not trying to change your mind/heart, but being I have owned a couple Nautiques and sold them for several years all I can say is drive, Salom, foot behind it.

Good Luck in your boat shopping. I hope you find what you are looking for.
