There is no reason you cant install a straight pylon (used starting around '01?) in place of one that has a bend in it. I have seen straight pylons installed in boats as old as '88. The bend is located a few inches above the floor, so there should be no alignment issues between the cup in the hull, cradle and the hole in the floor. The retaining method at the cup will be slightly different on a new vs. old pylon (u-bolt vs. through bolt) but it will physically install.1990 Ski Nautique
