    210 Wedge Tanks

I'm looking for wedge tanks for a 210. Mine has flat tanks and I'd like more ballast without switching to bags or using lead. I'm located in northern alabama. I'm hoping to find someone that switched to bags.

I'm not 100% this is what you are looking for -- but I am removing the rear tanks out of my '01 SAN this coming weekend (to make room for 750's).

They lay pretty flat in the back ski lockers -- so wasn't sure if they are 'wedge' or if that is from a newer SAN/SANTE...

    Thanks,
    Ben

I think the wedge tanks came out in 02. It sounds like you have the flat tanks like I have.

What's the weight difference between the flat tanks and the wedge tanks? I don't think it is much, maybe 50 lbs a tank? Unless you can find tanks locally I think the shipping will be pretty cost prohibitive. I know you said you don't want to switch to bags but if it was me I would ditch the tanks and throw some 750s in there. More weight, better storage when empty and much easier engine maintenance with bags. The only downside I see is losing the functionality of the ballast gauges.

Yeah, I'd like to keep the ballast gauges. Plus if I put in bags, I'd do 750s like you suggest, but then I'd need to cut out the cooler and plumb in a bow sac also. I figured this was at least worth a try.

            Thanks though.

I heard Fat Sac was working on a bag setup that would have gauges. The G23 / 25's use Fat Sac bags and I believe they have gauges with them. Don't do hard tanks they take up a ton of room. I pulled mine in my 230 and put in 1100's. it's nice when they are empty you have a ton of trunk space.

Does anybody know how they do the fill guage in the Gs? I had initially heard it was just timing based, but there was a thread where it said that as you drained them it could "loose track" but then when you shut down/restart it would be able to tell you how filled the bags were.

Theoretically you could use some sort of strain guage or load cell under the bag to weigh the amount of water... it wouldn't be really accurate measuring the weight, but once you knew the difference between full and empty it would be fine for just giving you 0, 1/4, 1/2 etc.

I need to just buy a digital controller system and spend the winter playing with weighing my fat sacs and building something to control a homemade NSS. At least it will give me something fun to do as I look out at the snow.

My guess would be that they use fluid flow meters. They would know how much is going in or out, but could still lose track if there is some in the tank to begin with. They already have linc onboard, so that could easily go the calculations. You could probably tuck a little Rasberry Pi or FPGA away somewhere and have it do the calculations and output the correct electrical signal to your ballast gauges. Stain gauges seem overly complicated and I'm not sure how they'd hold up over time.

Also, I am still looking for wedge tanks if anyone is switching to bags.

I pulled by two rear tanks from my 2008 210. I think they look like this. This isn't what you are looking for is it?

Beach, what are you looking to spend if any for the tanks? I've been toying with the idea of removing mine and installing sacs. This might be the push I need. It would be just the rear tanks with level senders as I plan to re-use the factory pumps for now. Also I live in Huntsville so we are close.

I was hoping for as little as possible. I'd go up to $150(1/2 the cost of 750 sacs), but I'll probably wait until closer to spring before I'd spend it. I'd just waiting to see if anyone has some sitting around for cheaper. I have flat tanks now, and my pumps are all good. I'm just trying to get a bit of extra weight in the back without having to go to lead.

Sounds good. Like I said I'm on the fence and the boss (wifey) doesn't really want me spending extra funds right now. If it gets closer to Spring and you still don't have anything let me know and we can come to some deal I would think. Where in N oath AL do you live?
