1995 GT-40 Engine Cover WTB

Hi! New member and new owner of a 1995 Ski Nautique with the GT-40. Great site, have lurked (and learned...) a lot here already! My new boat has a great exterior and interior for a 23 year old boat and the engine has good compression and runs like a top, ~930 hours. It's definitely been in some salt water (plugs look good on the inside, not so much on the outside), but I got a good enough deal on it in my opinion ($7,500) it was worth the gamble. Has a nice flush kit installed so hopefully they used it liberally after saltwater excursions, it was an Orlando boat for most of it's life.

Previous owner didn't know much about it, history, etc. so makes me a little nervous as nicely as the outside has been kept, it just seems real difficult for parts like engine covers and badging to disappear. But either way it's mine now and the engine looks a little naked - if anyone has a surplus cover laying around and wants to sell, please let me know!

Hello Nate. I looked at that boat a couple months ago.It's a Signature Edition, which was quite a premium in '95. I was the sales manager for a Correct Craft dealership back then and I was on their promo team as well. Unless you've repaired or replaced the prop, I'd recommend you tackle that first (it just needs to be reconditioned otherwise the vibration can wear out bearings in your tranny). The front tracking fin also had some damage that can be ground out and I believe there was some gelcoat damage to the keel that needs to be sealed (it can soak up water). I ended up buying a '99 and it too needs the engine cowl cover. I'm planning to fabricate mine with plate aluminum. I'll shoot you a photo when I'm done if you like. I'm up in Lake Norman. If you're close I'll be happy to stop by and show you what I know about that boat. You're right, John didn't know anything about the boat. I think you did get a good deal on the boat, it just needs some TLC.

10-4, thanks Howie. Would definitely like to see what you come up with for your cover! I saw the prop and the little bit of gelcoat work, need to look at that front fin again. I only ran it for about 4 days and knew I'd get an entire winter to screw around with it and get it ready for next year so that kind of played in to my decision to go ahead and buy it.
