Looking to buy a set of wakeboards and bindings for my first go at wakeboarding. I’m not new to boating but I am new to wakeboarding and was wondering if brand matters when buying wakeboards and bindings

Since no one is weighing in I'll give it a go.....
To a degree yes, as in don't buy junk. Past that the saying that "you don't know what you don't know" plays well here. What I've recommended in the past has been to find a good intermediate board and bindings from one of the leaders (Hyperlite, Ronix, Liquid Force, etc.) that fits well. You don't need a $700 top level board to start with and it may even hinder your advancement at first. If you're going to have 2 - 3 riders try to buy boards that will fit them in groups if possible to cut down on cost (if that's a factor) but have a board that fits them as closely as possible.
The other thing I recommend for the true new riders is to consider used gear from a place like Ski It Again.
https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/ski...gory=WakeBOARD
Often you can get a 2 or 3 year old rig or new overstock board for less than half the cost of new that many times will still be in the product lineup. Another place to go is Gear Trade.....
https://www.geartrade.com/search/res...Term=wakeboard
A lot of used and overstock gear here but the challenge here is figuring out how old some of the items are. You need to do a lot of research here to make sure you're getting what you think you are.
The last places would be facebook market place or craigslist but there you're really going to be on top of your game not to buy super old or junk gear. There is a ton of gear here but a lot of it is super old garage sale type stuff that would be better suited for making benches than riding.
We'll that what I would advise, I'm sure others will have different views and opinions.....

Beginner boards tend to be junk (poor construction) with junk bindings (hard rubber, adjustable, that fit anyone well poorly) that are uncomfortable. It ends up being more of a price point thing than a performance thing. I personally would rather buy 3 used rigs for a bit more than new 1 or 2 new entry level rigs even if I pay a bit more. Nothing turns people off more from a sport than uncomfortable bindings and bad equipment.

I’m eyeing a Hyperlite State 2.0 2021 board in 145 length (6 foot, 260 lbs and falling) with Hyperlite Remix 2021 open toe bindings with a 75’ rope with 3 five foot tie offs (65/70/75).
Does this fit the bill for a quality “intermediate” setup?
I was thinking I might need to be closer to a 150. But curious what you all think.
I have never wakeboarded before. Snowboarder for a very long time and pretty good at that. I’m hoping some of the skills carry over, but we’ll see?
