Larry and his people make a great product, and I know the people who already own them agree.

We have over 700 satisfied customers (over 80 Nautiques) that say that FAE does not affect the performance of their boat or engine. The shape of the FAE outlet, located in the propwash, creates a venturi effect that helps to pull the exhaust from the engine; until you get to wide open throttle at which point performance begins to suffer. The typical boat with FAE will lose about 2 mph top end speed.

Fresh Air Exhaust
I have a FAE personally installed by Larry on a 98 Ski Nautique with a GT-40.
It works great. I was really after a reduction in noise and knocking down the CO2, which the FAE is designed for. I pretty much slalom behind my boat and it's worked great for me. It did take about 2mph off the top end like Larry said. It also creates a small rooster tail behind the boat at slalom speed, but I haven't really noticed any other effect on the wake. I ski at 15 or 22 off so it's not an issue. Not sure if it would matter at really short line lengths, but probably not.
If I was using my boat for barefooting, I would not want it simply for the 2mph top end sacrifice.
When my FAE was first installed, my boat was in a marina which was very tight and required some very precise maneuvers to get in and out. The FAE affects low speed handling because it's effectively another rudder back there. It's predictable, you just have to get used to it. I had my docking routine down to a science and it messed me up at first unitl I got used to it. Now, I trailer my boat and I don't notice that effect at all any more because I'm not doing such precise driving.
Don't miss understand, I love the FAE and wouldn't take it off, just giving my full experience.
