    New Nautique 196 Group Buy

I'm starting this list a bit for humor, but also to get a legitimate list. Back in the 2012 rumors thread (http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...-Rumors/page18), a few people said CC would build the 196 again if a large amount was requested. Lets get a list going here of people who would actually commit to buying one. This could also be a thread for 196 fans to sound off on the direction CC has taken.

Are you talking about a striped down boat for 20k ? What do you find wrong with the 200?

If the price was right I'm sure we'd be down to order one for stock. Pricing on that boat would have to be 15k+ less than a 200 closed bow for it to be justified.

Huh? 20k? Seriously? No I expect the price to be at least similar to the 196 when it was discontinued. I'm not sure how to take that comment.

I have no personal issue with the 200, but I will say I like the layout better on the 196. A good number of people have had an issue with the 200 though, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling on this. In my eyes, if they ever did pull the old 196 molds out, it might signal the same could be done for the old 210.

In reality, I know this will not happen, even if enough people express interest. CC isn't going to do a run of the 196, and as much as people complained about the 200 here, no one has actually added their name to the list. Not a big deal really...

I hope this doesn't turn into a 200 vs 196 thread. There are already several on that subject.

As far as pricing.... My '08 196 was about the same price as a '10 200CB base. Of course my '08 was a Limited. A 2012 base 200CB would be about $5k more than my '08.

I know this is more than just about price though. I would never go back, but appreciate the opinions of those that would. Good luck!

It has been stated here that CC should come out with a bare bones older model priced in the 20s. I thought that is where you were going with this. My wife skies and has been behind both 196 and 200 hands down the 200 is the best ski boat she has ever skied. There are plenty of used 196s out there if that is what you want. I cant think of any reason CC would go backwards to build old models.

I doubt anyone could build and sell a decent boat for 20k, and turn a profit.

I'm not arguing the 200 is a better ski boat, but a number of people that have hours upon hours behind both will. (when cost and other variables are factored in) I wanted to start a thread to gauge numbers on how many people would be interested in a new 196.

Should CC go backwards? I guess it depends on your definition of backwards. Re-releasing old designs under a value oriented scheme doesn't seem like a backwards step to me. If that helps increase output for the factory closer to the 12/day max, perhaps there wouldn't need to be 10% increases on carry-over models. Just a thought, I wouldn't really get to excited over this thread one way or the other...
