    Preston,

Anyone who wants a light bar, by all means go for it.

However, from my experience, I bought light bars about
two or three years ago, and they have been the single
biggest waste of money I've ever spent on the boat. I would not
    do it again.

The lights blind me at speed when driving at night.

The lights never seem to be at the right angle to provide
    good forward visiblility.

The lights don't do much fo seeing the shoreline at the port or starboard, which is the biggest issue at night.

About the only time they are useful is around the dock area
when parking after dark. I can light up the neighbors house
and see all the way through to the front door. Unfortunately, seeing
around the dock was never the issue in the first place.

While the lights look cool, from my perspective, one is far better off having a quality, hand-held spotlight. They are about 100 times les expensive, and are far mor effective.

    Just my $.02

BKH, You're 100% right, but cool has a value and I think my boat looked naked without them.

IMHO..Lights are for serious riders (who actually ride private lakes at night) or for posers....LOL...cause they look so COOL Yellow_Flash_Colorz: (j/k, no ofense to you light bar guys)
My uncle has em on his X-30, yeah they look good but they are a waste. I think he has turned em on twice in two years.

But hey, that s a GREAT deal for 6 lights.

Tower lights work great for surfing at night.

So, an amendment to my earlier post.

            I agree the
lights work well for seeing the boarder or surfer at night,
and for them to see the wakes, boats, etc. However, at the
same time, in my experience, the lights blind the driver so that
he or she can't see much of anything in front of the boat.

We've found the best night riding is under a full moon with no lights.

I've also found that the light bars are a particular pain in the
behind to clean the bugs which collect during trailering, etc. Lots
of nooks and crannies, and with halogen bulbs, they can get
            fried on there pretty good.

            Again, my $.02.

If you like the light bars, that's all that really matters.

Daytomann, the cool factor is more important than you think nowadays. My friend just bought a MC over CC just b/c of the cool factor alone.

And they aern't totally useless, I use them all the time at night...

I use lights all the time for surfing and for hanging out around the boat at night. Good for afterdark cleanup back on the trailer as well.

Believe me, I know thats true. It seems like the more bling you got on your tower the better, its almost like one big contest out there as to who can outbling who. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I'm sure lights have their merits, I just have not been able to justify them yet. Maybe someday, someone can show me the...uh hum!... "light" ...HA...HA!! :|

Haha, you have a good point Daytomann. But coming from an '82 2001 Ski Nautique with nothing more complex than Nav/Ancor Lights on it, I like every little gadget.
