    Comptech Release

I am trying to put together a group buy on the Comptech safety release. http://skyski.com/store/comptech-saf...k-release.html

I do not know if SkySki is interested in doing another group buy, but I wanted to gauge serious interest before going to them to see whether they would consider doing another one. So far, I have 5 people interested from www.foilforum.com. Please let me know if you would be interested in a group buy for the release this go around. Thank you.

I purchased one after Jeff hurt his arm a couple of years ago, used it a couple of times and then took it off when I winterized the boat. When I got the boat back out, I never put it back on. I see the need for it with an air-chair and big air wakeboarding but we are not there yet.
2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop

pre 2010 - various open bow boats and jet skis

Wow...never new about this item...I tore my bicep and brachioradialis getting it caught in the rope handle 15 years ago. I wonder if this would have helped reduce my injuries...seems like it would have.

I was not doing big airs. I was still a beginner doing wake to wakes and was going for a 360...

My uncle used to have a simpler release used for 'trick skiing'. He no longer has it, but isn't there something less expensive available. I have thought about it a few times for myself and then for my kids as they progress.

Update; yes there are others after a quick Google search. Not as nice as the one mentioned above.

There are manual releases that rely on someone to pull the pin. A lot can go wrong there. There is also the Cinch release, a Velcro based unit that is good for travel, but somewhat imprecise, and once it releases and gets wet, its holding power until it dries is much less. There is also the bullet release, another great portable option. My friend Benton invented this and sells them. The only downside on this is that you need to buy replacement pins, because they break during a release. Is there something else you are thinking of?

BTW, SkySki has gotten back to me and is willing to do another group buy if I can get a minimum of 10 orders.

Thanks Chexi. So I did some research and you are right, most all other releases are still the manual release that someone has too pull. There are more than there used to be, but still manual.

The pin breaking on a release is not a bad idea. I would hope this provides a consistent release tension since the pin is what determines the release point.

I'll watch this group buy thread, but I don't think it is in my budget right now.
