    Rankin Covers

    Background info:
Rankin offers top of the line Sunbrella covers that are truly trailerable. Their workmanship is top notch. The covers use a drawstring that tightens with a ratchet system and attaches firmly to the rub rail, so no snaps are necessary. The covers fit so well that no support poles are needed to shed water.

This group buy is applicable to any boat for which Rankin has a template. They claim that they have all Correct Craft templates dating back to 1989. The 1989 templates may or may not work on older boats.

See Rankin’s website for more information: http://www.rankincovers.com/

    Pricing Information:

    Other Details:
All Boats with Towers will require certain measurements to ensure an accurate cover. Descriptions of the measurements you need to take will be available on the order form that I send you.

No cleat or gas filler doors will be offered on the covers. Rankin has offered to send a small amount of extra fabric (for a small charge) to those who would like to have these options added locally.

    Colors:

All of Rankin’s standard colors are eligible for this group deal. They are as follows:

*For better legibility on the names of the colors, see Rankin's website: http://www.rankincovers.com/product-info.htm

    Shipping:
Shipping charges will be the actual shipping cost from their facilities in Washington. Shipping in the continental U.S. should range from approximately $15 to $30.

    Warranty:
Rankin’s standard warranty still applies. This warranty will cover the Sunbrella material for 5 years from the date of purchase. There is a lifetime warranty (for the original purchaser) on the workmanship of the cover.

    How to Order:
Send me an email with Rankin in the title: TRBenj@gmail.com. I will send you an order form. Fill it out and send it back to me. When I have collected enough orders, I will submit them to Rankin.

    Payment:
Once I submit the orders, Rankin will take your payment directly. They take Mastercard and Visa. They can be reached at (425) 483-9266 from 7am - 4pm Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to mention my name and this group buy.

Rankin expressed interest in moving forward as quickly as possible. I do not have a date when we will stop accepting orders for this group buy, but I will update this post when I do. I expect to start submitting orders in groups so that they may start production.

    Thank you for your interest!

I don't see the big attraction with these covers. They don't stay tight enough to not bucket in with the rain. I also think they are a bit of a hassle to make tight when on a hoist or in the water.

      Is it just me??

For what it's worth, I live in the NW where it rains 9 months out of the year and never experienced a problem with my Rankin pooling water. I've also never found it to be a hassle to tighten the cover, I mean you un-velcro the padded hook and move it in or out and then re-seat it and hook it onto the rub rail. Not sure how it could get much easier... That's just my experience however, maybe others have experienced something different.
        How about \"Chales\"?

Skinautique, Ive read a lot about these covers and have yet to hear about them pooling water. Have you experienced otherwise?

I for one will be using this as my primary mooring cover. While it will be nice to use while trailering, my boat stays in the water most of the summer- either on a lift or at a buoy. Rankin's fastening system will be much easier than the poles and bungees that Im currently using. I refuse to drill snaps into my boat.

Any idea how the covers work with towers? I'm interested on the difficulty in putting the cover on with the tower. I looks like the covers use one long line to wrap around the entire boat. Maybe some one familiar with this cover design can describe how you put the cover on.

              Thanks!

WW, great question. The same question was just asked over on CCFan, so I added this pic:

Hopefully that clears things up. The cover is supposed to be very easy to put on. If youre interested in hearing more reviews of the Rankin, try doing a search over on Wakesiderides.com. Lots of happy customers over there- and a lot of them paid full price!

These look nice. How much more difficult are they to use on a mooring versus a trailor?

Also from these picture angles it looks like part of the top deck of the transom is exposed.
Is that just because of the angle?
Where would the straps go on the back of a recent model 206/196?
Does anyone here use this cover on a 196/206? It doesn't look like it covers the hardware on the top of the rub rail and there is nothing to attach below the transom rub rail, unless I'm missing something. (entirely possible)

Richard, Im guessing youre referring to the pic of the yellow Malibu with the rear cushion exposed. I believe that was a design flaw that they changed on this particilar model. I dont have any pics of how the cover would attach on a new 196/206, but I believe it would be very similar to the pics shown above. I would think the straps would attach to the 2 SS grab handles- but thats just a guess.

As far as the difficulty of using these on a mooring goes, you can see that Dragon88 had no problem with his SAN. Everything I have heard indicates these covers go on very quickly and easily. I will be using it as my primary mooring cover since my boat stays in the water most of the summer.

                        Thanks

So hard to picture without seeing it especially since the SS grab handles are above the rub rail and there is nothing really to attach it to below. Attaching it to rub rail would expose a portion of the deck.

I'm trying to picture it on a transom like this.

Richard, I use a Rankin cover for our 99 SNOB, and love it. No part of the deck is exposed, (with the exception of from the vent cover on the transom to the rub-rail). I also live in the NW, and I have no problems with water pooling AT ALL. Great product, and Rankin is great to work with, also they stand behind their product 100%.

I'm interested... but, like Richard, would like to see this cover on a 196 or 206. Can anyone get pics to share?

Todda, can you snap pics of your SNOB?

Are the straps connected below the rup rail?
