The v drive is a transfer case, like this, the "<" thing is the prop shaft (v-drive unit)< (motor)
__________________________________________________ _________________(propeller)
On a v-drive the engine is in the back. The power output comes out toward the front of the boat through a drive shaft, then goes through a differential-type connector (that reverses the direction of the shaft assembly - thus making a "v" shape) that is connects to another shaft going toward the back of the boat, with the propeller at the end of that shaft. This configuration is typically used in wakeboard boats, as opposed to center-engine direct drive ski boats.
