    Roller Marks

whats the best way to get the marks off of gel coat that the trailer roller makes. Also how do you prevent this from happening.
    Thanks

    RE: Roller Marks

are you talking about the one at the front of the boat or do you have them all along the bottom?

If they are black marks, a little acetone on a rag will take them right off. Won't hurt the gel. Wax afterwards.

The one at the front. The roller is a dark tan color, so now there is a nice custom tan stripe right up the center.

J-Ward Im guessing you have a White hull so you proabley dont see the trailer bunk scratchs on your hull when your boats on the trailer.

The way I avoid roller marks and Trailer bunk scratch marks is. Docking or loading the trailer much deeper in the water than you are used to.

Ill explain. traditionally people just put the fenders of the trailer in the water. (each ramp is diffrent) and then they use the trailer and bunks as a guide ramp and they drive their boat up onto the trailer and over the roller. This is OLD SCHOOL. And takes little to no talent to Load or Un load the boat sort of just point and shoot The down side is you get trailer carpet scratch's along the bottom side of the hull and you get the roller mark your taking about. Best way to avoid that is to float the boat over the trailer that way the boat never make contact with the trailer untill you hook the bow hook and tightin it down and start pulling the trailer out of the water. The boat just lays down on the trailer. There is no forward movement over the roller and the bunks to cause damage.

This is how PIMP'S like me Load and unload everytime, LOL J/K The entire bottom side of my boat still looks like brand new. Yes its extra work but I can still load and unload my boat faster than 99% of the people out there with just me driving the boat and my Awesome wife driving the truck / trailer.

          Any Question?
          Yours truly

              Did acetone not work?

Try some Meguires Black Streak Remover and a lot of elbow grease.

finally got around to trying out some acetone. I am so glad I used that stuff it worked great. It was my first time using it so I was kinda scared after reading all the warnings on the back. I also took off some unwanted stickers and the acetone took the glue right off. Is there anything I should know about this stuff before I over use it or use it in the wrong place. Thanks.

Just rinse well and apply wax afterwards. Glad it worked well for you.
