    Need info on my 206

Ok guys, a couple of questions:

    a. The vinyl cladding on the starboard side of my 206 is coming loose. I know there are fasteners behind the cladding that goes through the gunwale flange. Anyone know what size wrench I need to tighten those down? Do I need worry about making it too tight and pulling the fastner from the vinyl cladding backing?

    b. The water level at my lake is too high causing the rub rail on my boat to ride above the starting dock. When a wake comes by from another boat, the underside of the rub rail will bounce off the dock if I'm not holding the boat. Well on Sunday as I turned my back, a wave came in and caused such a bounce. Now my rub rail has a "wiggle" where it looks like it was pushed up in one spot. No big deal but is still driving me crazy. How do I fix it? I assume I have to pull the entire rub rail off and re-tighten the fasteners. Any opinions?

    c. I have noticed lately that when the boat is on the trailer, there is some flex in the windshield causing the gap between the walk through portion of the hinged windshield to close up a little more than an 1/8th of an inch. I started noticing it when the hinged portion of the windshield would strike the tension knob on my mirror which is mounted just to the right of the left edge of the walk through. Is this much flex while on the trailer normal? When I put the boat in the water, there is all kinds of clearance.

    Thanks for your help.

I can't help you with questions (a) and (b). As regards "normal" clearance on the walk through, my 206 has proper-to-large clearance on the trailer but in the water, the clearance is too much. Twice I have smacked into a really hard and big wake, and had the window actually start to fall through the opening. I also see a lot of flex both on and off the water to the extent that the rubber "weather stripping" on the hinged window has been rubbed down to nearly nothing over 35 hours of use. I have no solution to offer other than to say that "normal" seems to be a rather wide range.

Thanks gatorgates. I spoke with Brice at the West Coast Nautique Service center. He was very helpful. Brice indicated that there is a problem with 2003 206's and the flex at the walk through. He indicated that most stabilize and don't get any worse. There have been a few, however, that continue to flex to the point that the windshield falls through--as you describe. For folks like you, there is a brace kit that the service center will install to bring the boat back to spec. Apparently for the 04 boats, the factory installs a horsehoe type of brace that fixes the problem.

I asked Brice if the fix was covered under the lifetime hull, deck and stringer warranty. He indicated that he thinks it is but would check for sure and call me back. If I were you, I would get my boat in and get it fixed pronto. I'm sure CC will take care of you. I'm going to keep an eye on mine this summer, for sure.

        a. only tighten it until the piece is no longer loose.(finger tight then a half turn) i'd bet it would be easy to pull it through.

        b. I don't remember off hand but I just saw a thread about this on wakeboarder.com ,i'll see if i can find it.

        c. no help from me
        I don\'t care.
