    Battery Capabilities on New Nautiques

This may be a stupid question, but I want to see if battery life has improved over the many years. If I were to "camp out" on a new '04 Nautique overnight and leave nothing but the anchor light on... would the boat start with no problem in the morning??? I know it may not have on the frst 2001s, so I'm asking now so I don't make the same mistake twice...

    Thanks...

Austin I don't know but I always carry insurance. I bought one of thise batery packs/ starters because I was having trouble with my alternater. At one point on Lake Tahoe the boat died in the water from a completely dead battery and alternater. I started the boat and drove about 12 miles just on the pack. They retail for around 50 bucks now. To me thats cheap insurance

When I picked up my nautique a few weeks ago I had never dealt with two batteries. I have a pretty big system on the boat and for the first 3 times we went to the lake we blasted the sound system. On the 4th time I noticed when the sub would hit the tower speakers would turn off. Needless to say I had the battery switch set to #1 and the system was running on #2. So for the first 3 times the system was running just on the battery and not ever getting recharged. For the amount of watts I never thought it would have lasted 3 times without charging but it did. Now I charge both batteries when I go out. So I guess that the new batteries are pretty tough. Also with the dual batts you can just turn the dial to the one battery and then if for some reason the anchor light kills that battery in the morning just turn the battery dial to the other one and you should be set.

Why not get a battery operated (d-cell batteries) anchor light to use on the boat the few times you are camping in it. That way there is no worry about the light running the battery down.
