Help with Garage - 210 or maybe 211?

Hi all. Forgive me for asking something I'm sure comes up quite a bit, but I've searched for the last hour and haven't found the answers I'm looking for.

I'll be in the market for a new boat around the end of this season or possibly next winter and am trying to expand my options. I'm a little limited due to space in the garage, homeonwers assocation, etc.

So here's what I've got.

I've got a 7ft header (or 84in) on my garage if I remove a small piece of molding. The length is just shy of 22ft 7in, so call it 22ft 6in to be safe. Width is not an issue. I'm comfortable removing a swim step as long as you folks don't see this as excessive wear and tear and realize the trailer would have to have a folding tongue.

I'm interested in a 2006 or older 210 as I'm pretty sure the new 210's 2007+ will not fit because of the tower height when folded (right?).

My driveway is fairly short, and I'd be backing her in uphill slightly into the garage. Probably a 15 degree incline or so, not too steep.

I've read all kinds of posts about folks dropping the tounge down, etc, but I'm a little concerned about the slope of the driveway and the thing getting away from me. I'm guessing as long as I can get the trailer tires onto the slab, I'd be okay. Thoughts on that?

Any advice is much appreciated and thanks for your time in reading this.

FWIW, I really do love the new looks and design of the 08 210's, but I'm afraid they'll be out of reach from a $ perspective and as I've mentioned, I'm guessing no matter what trailer, it won't fit from a height perspective. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Lastly, I'd say that if you have something similar to my setup and it's working, please detail how you're doing it and include the make of your trailer including wheel/tire size too if possible.

I also have an incline into the garage, which helps with the folded tower clearance. However, long story short, mine has to go in nose first. I winch it into the garage with the jack all the way down. I doubt I could clear the door hooked to the truck. Tires on the pad is a good thing, but if that tongue is on the slope I would imagine it'll try to come on out.

2007's are taller though right? how about 2001-2005?

Maybe I can answer one of your questions in regards to the '08's I just asked a similar questions to my dealer on height.

He indicated that:
1.) '08 210;Ramlin trailer; Folded FCT Tower and with the tongue cranked all the way down would be a 7'3"
2.) Same setup, cranked all the way with Titan tower folded down would be 7'

But haven't personally measured it myself. Obvisouly Ramlin trailers sit among the lowest, so other brands would probably push that height up.

Also - I have a '99 air nautique(direct drive 216) , '02 Tower on an '02 tandem ramilin, which in most dimenions is similar to a pre 06 super air. Folded tower height I believe is about 6'9". Total length tongue to platform is 25'. Total length folded tongue with platform off is 22' I believe.

I'm currently going through the same dilema. I actually measured an 08 210 on a Ramlin standard Tandem trailer. With the tongue all the way down the high point on the tower measured 89". I talked extensively with the guys at Ramlin about what could be done to a trailer to lower it. They can make it lower profile than the normal trailer, but they couldn't shave off enough. On paper, all that we could come up with got us to about 85". Then we started looking at the Titan tower. I actually haven't seen one in person yet. My dealer's Titan rep told him that the 210 w/ Titan tower on a standard Ramlin trailer was 6'8", to which I say BS. No way it comes in at 80" although I do think you probably can get it into an 84" garage. My dealer is so sure it will fit that he is ordering me a 210 with the condition that if it doesn't fit, I don't have to buy it. That being said, I am also wokring with Ramlin on getting a low profile trailer that should set about 3" lower than the normal production trailer to go with it. It should work.

As far as the slope, I would probably put some sort of safety cable in the garage to make sure it doesn't get away from you, or at least make sure you chalk the wheels before decoupling it.

It's going to depend upon the trailer. I have an 01 SAN on a tandem sport boat trailer. Tongue folded, platform off, it's just oer 21' in length. Tower folded and trailer level, height is at 80". Any time you have a tight fit, it's a PITA, but mine would fit the dimensions you've cited. BKH

bkhallpass, that's encouraging. thanks for listing the trailer make. i'm guessing stock wheels and tires? do you have to monkey around with the tounge or anything or are you backing her in all the way? backing the boat uphill into the garage is a benefit right since these towers fold forward (as far as height goes)?

nice to see i'd have ~1ft of space as far as length goes for wife approval factor.

The tongues vary as to how far back under the boat they fold. On my particular trailer, when folded back, it only sits about 3 inches in front of the nose of the boat. I've seen some, that even folded still jut out at least a foot in front of the boat.

Some trailer also allow the boat to sit lower. Depends upon whehter it has a drop down axle, bunk configuration, etc. On my particular trailer, the outside chine of the boat sits below the fender level.

I was not counting the pitot tubes which probably add 3 inches to the length.

Yes, backing uphill into a garage should provide some advantage. The leverage gained will depend upon how far back from you rear tires the trailer ball is located. A geometry puzzle if you will. BKH

I have a 2005 SANTE on a single axle Ramlin.My garage has a 84"high header and it is 82"from the floor to the door's edge when open.My garage is 22' 3" deep,driveway has (very)slight downhill away from door.My boat will back in still hooked to my 05 dodge ram (with tower folded of course!) and barely clear the door.With the platform off and the tongue folded,it is within 1 inch of the back wall,and I can just squeeze between the bow and the door when it's closed. Hope that info helps!

I have a 01 SAN on a DHM trailer and it measured to about 21'.5". If I take off the swimstep, break the trailer tounge, and lower the tower it fits with 6" to spare.

thanks, what about height? that's what i'm most concerned with as i have a 84in header (7ft) garage.

My garage height is 96", so I have no problem. I measured from the garage floor to the top of the folded tower and it was 81". If your garage is 83" you will have room to spare. To fit the boat in lenght wise you will need 21' 4". Let me know if you need any other info.
