    Question About Audible Alarm- Safety

    Hi,
I have a 1989 2001Ski Nautique. There is a factory audible alarm the is heard prior to starting the boat. What is this alarm for, what does it sense?

The manual doesn't have much about it, except in the engine starting procedure.

Occasionally the alarm sounds as we idle through no wake areas. What's up with that? Is it a safety concern?

Is they ant CO2 sensing in the engine compartment?

    Thanks
    ML

RE: Question About Audible Alarm- Safety

The audible alarms are usually for low oil pressure and/or high water temp. At no wake speeds your engine rpm may drop down pretty low causing intermitent low oil pressure and sounding the alarm. If your engine seems to stumble a little in that situation try bumping up the idle just a tick. You may also have a cooling problem that is showing up at low engine speeds.

I have an alarm on my boat and at times I find it annoying but when I'm out skiing and have someone else driving my boat I just tell them to shut the boat off if it sounds to prevent any damage.
