    1/2 way there

I am beat. Me and my uncle and his buddy and son were working on reframing my 3rd stall of the garage door to go from a 9wide 8 tall to a 10 wide 8 tall door. Everything has turned out pretty nice so far. I got a lot of sheetrock patching to do now and I had to move the attic access drop down ladder to which I am still not done yet. Tomorrow the new door comes and is installed.

The boat was 8'8" on the trailer and the existing door was 8'9.5" on the finished inside faces, not enought to comfortably fit in for me backing it. That brought on this whole project. Besides, the garage door was hit by the guy who lived here before me so I was planning to change it anyway.

Sorry for the rant but I just though I would share

        TRDon,

You going to use a WAYNE DALTON Itorque opener that mounts on the wall above the door and not the ceiling so you can stand the tower up once inside and not have to deal with the interference from a traiditonal garage door opener?

I wasnt planning on it because it will need to be down to go in and come out so I guess i dont care really. With my scatterbrain, I would leavie it up and rip it off pulling it out lol

Looks great. My wife was really excited when I moved the load bearing wall, installed an LVL, and took and additional 2 ft of our family room! What a man will do for his Nautique!

I know how you feel , I just finished mine at my lakehouse just so the boat will fit inside. Mine was a little more extensive, I had to raise the whole ceiling up a couple of feet as well as a new header for the garage door. I just took a sawzall and cut the front wall out and let it fall then built a new one in it's place.

I have never seen an, Un dry walled garage untill i worked in Canada. 98% of garages in Australia have a finish to the standard above

I will be doing something very similar on a brand new house! I just built a new house and all I was concerned about was the depth of the garage. Not once did I give a second thought about the width of the doors. I have three 8ftx9ft doors, with an effective opening of 8'9" and my trailer width is 8'6". I sure wish I had put in 8x10 doors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I did the torque drive and have rails all the way up to the ceiling so I can have my tower up in the garage. I had the foresight for that, but it's the obviouse things I have trouble with!!

I just got done with the garage door opener. One more thing doen. Now just have to wait for warmer weather and I cna start to tape the walls

BTW. Brodie is the second person to mention the puting the tower up in the garage. Is there somthing I should knwo or is there some benefit to doing so? I have just seen it and one more thing to do when I get back and one more thing to do befor I take it out.

The benefit of being able to put the tower up in the garage is that it's one less thing to deal with when you are working on it. If the tower is down and you have to work up in the bow, it makes it much more difficult!

Exactly! That way I can do various projects on the boat without the tower in the way, like new audio system (hopefully), cleaning, engine work, etc, or just sitting in it in the dead of winter wishing I lived somewhere warm (with a Summit EPA (beer) in my hand)!
