On the 211 the support bracket mounts to the center platform support. You need to pull the starboard ballast tank, remove the bolts on the center platform support, bolt up the bracket then mount the FAE. It requires no drilling in the hull, it is completely removable leaving no trace of ever being installed in the event you don't like it. It does not interfere with the hydrogate at all, about 1/2" form the gate at the closest point. I pushed Larry to keep it pretty close, I am very happy with the results.
I notice no difference in any of the wakes. I notice no difference in the performance of the boat, I don't even notice a loss of speed on top, maybe 1 or 2 but that's within the normal load/wind variables anyway. I notice no difference in the operation of the hydrogate.
At slalom speed it throws a small V spray no higher or wider than the spray coming off the hull itself, I don't notice any difference in the wake. That may be a different story on a 206/196 that have such small slalom wakes.
My nephew even thinks it looks kind of cool...
