    Question for the board 211/216

I have been a very happy 211 owner since 2004. My wife's first love is sking, I sky-ski and my son likes the big wake for wakeboarding and kneeboarding.

My son is off to college and the wife would like a better ski wake and wake doesn't matter to me on the sky-ski so we are looking at a 216. My question is as follows; will the wakeboard wake with the stock tanks and a 400 lb sack right behind the motor be anywhere near the 211 for my son or will he puke when he see's how wimpy it is?

RE: Question for the board 211/216

I've ridden behind both, the 216 wake is small. With the extra 400 it will be better, but not as big as a 211. Maybe get a sack for the trunk and the floor, then it will get bigger. Your wife should be much happier with the ski wake though.
Make your son bring his college crew home with him, that should get the wake where he wants it!

RE: Question for the board 211/216

      Your son will puke...

I have the 211, I have two friends with 216's. First time I went out on the 216 I took my board, now when I am going out on a 216 I just take the ski. IMO the 216 needs at least 500lbs of extra weight in addition to the stock rear tanks to make boarding worthwhile.

You are in a tough spot. The 216 will make the wife happier, the 211 will make the son happier. In all honesty the 216 wake is better than the 211's but not that much. I actually prefer my 211 at 34/28 but prefer the 216 at 34/22. The 216 is far superior at 34/22, at 34/28 the difference is not that much, it's just that the 216 has a nasty tip grabbing dip at that speed/length.

If driving and handling matter then the 216 wins hands down. The 211 handles like a SUV, the 216 handles like a BMW.

Also keep the ski pylon location in mind. You will need to clear the back seat when skiing behind the 216, everybody stays put in the 211. This was a factor in my decision as I tend to have 4-6 in my crew most of the time.
