    Changing Color Scheme

I found a sweet 2001 SAN that is perfect...except for the color scheme. I'm just not a big fan of yellow. I figure I would need to change the vinyl highlights on the interior and the yellow swoop on the sides. Not sure if I'm getting in over my head on this one. I've seen some cool wraps that could work but not sure how long these will last before they start peeling off. I searched forums and found one string pertaining to changing the gelcoat color on a deck. But that particular project seemed to be quite a bit more intense then changing the highlight color...not sure.

Any feedback? Has anyone changed a color scheme/gelcoat color? Costs? Thanks!

Youre looking at $3500+ for new interior skins and install, and probably over $5k in gel work to change colors. It would be much more cost effective to sell your boat and buy another.

If you cover the yellow gelcoat with a vinyl sticker it will last around 5 years provided you dont rub a few docks, but even if you do it is easy to repair just the damaged area. I looked in to doing this to one of my boats but wound up selling it. Just guessing on how much you will be covering I'd say around $400-$600. As far as the vinyl on the seats I have seen some paint work done on vinyl that looked factory. You couldn't even tell it had been painted. On the other hand these guys are right there are several of these out there so I'd keep looking. The way gas prices are going there will be boats for sale all over the place at really good prices.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that it is best to wait for the right boat. There are a ton coming on the market everyday. You're right jward, with gas prices and the economy, I just have to have a little patience and the perfect boat will eventually become available. I'm just getting anxious to get my next Nautique!
