Install ZO or SG or keep PP?

    Purchased an '07 196 w/ PP.

Wanted to install ZO and keep PP. If I do, will lose 2nd Speedo guage w/ water/air temp & depth.

Dealer suggests just swapping PP and ZO...forget SG.

Thoughts? Can I sell the PP module and display?

Put it on eBay, it will sell quickly and usually at a pretty high price (relative to the MSRP). I've followed several on there that I thought I could get at a good deal and they typically get too expensive for what I'm willing to pay, especially since they're not new.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with either speed control. SG is going to be a less expensive upgrade. I recently heard that they will soon offer a version that will not require the paddle wheel thanks to their newly acquired GPS licensing from ZO. Not 100% on that info yet, but if you call PP, they can tell you for sure.

i want zero off but i have an 05 and it not throttle by wire. i dont know why they call it drive by wire cause it's drive by cable still. imagine when you're pulling with zero off and pull a double up electronically. any news on zo for the 05's and down?

My understanding is that Perfect Pass gets the pre drive by wire boats and Zero Off gets the drive-by-wire boats (08 and up). Sucks for me as well because I wanted Zero Off but with my 05 it can't happen. Just picked up Star Gazer, easy instal, but haven't had a chance to try it out. Will report back if the weather ever breaks..

ya i already have perfect pass and i know how to use it right so its ok. the drive by wire pp sucks. you have virtually no control. i actually was told they are developing a zero off for the older boats. i was upset b/c i read a post about someone riding on a river and having to change the speed when they changed directions, but there is a current mode that fixes that 100% from what i've heard. i might call them tomorrow to see if i can get any info and i'll post if i do

I'm not sure how Zero Off is going to do anything for older wired boats with 8 more years on the Perfect Pass patent, but they may have something in that agreement that wasn't in the press release.

We've been using SG for the last month on two 05s. It is awesome!
