I thought I'd ask a question on this old thread. My board (Ronix Koal) is too wide for the rear straps on the rack so I just jam it under the bungie strap on the front. The only problem is the board can wiggle loose and blow off if the water is rough. How do people with the Z5 rack attach their surfboards?

Why can't you tow with boards in rack? Seems to me the boat bouncing on the water going over 30mph with the racks swung out seems like much more stress on stuff than going down the road at 55mph boat on the trailer and racks swung in? I even keep my knee boards strapped to the top of my tower going down the road. I can see both my racks in my side mirrows and my boards don't seem to move at all, the binding laces don't even seem to flap around very much.

I guess if you don't have the swing in style racks then I wouldn't do it but with the swing in style racks it doesn't seem and issue to keep your boards in the rack.

On the newer Nautiques the Spinner Racks fit "thicker" wakesurf boards. I experienced the same thing in my 07 220 - my wakesurf is a surfboard type shape BUT it fits in the spinner racks on the 09 216v. I guess you could buy 1 new spinner rack, holds 1 wakesurf, bottom holds wakeboard.

Why put it in the rack at all? For transport, I put mine in the storage space under the flip up observers seat in my 211. It fits in just fine. Take it out when you want it, put it back when you're done, and it's never in the way.

I installed a rack from www.endlesswaveracks.com. I absolutely love it! I am not sure if it would work with a over the tower bimini. But if you have a bimini under the tower I strongly recommend it. I actually may order a second rack so I can involve everybody who comes on the boat regardless of ability, experience, style and technique. It will be nice to accommodate six boards without crowding the boat. After that a FAE so we are not all high and hacking a lung from the exhaust. (because there is no way it is because of the several 30 packs of coors light)

I talked to Ray at Z5, he's going to send me some extension straps so I can properly secure the tail of my surfboard to the rear crossbar of the Z5 rack. He's a very helpful guy.
