    TSC hull question

Sorry if I don't appear to have done the homework first. I'm looking at buying a used SN around late 90's to early 00's and wanted to make sure about the hull.

My only experience so far skiing behind a Nautique (other than my 211) was with a friend's 1999 SN 196. And it was a great one! I beleive that he had a TSC hull. I want to make sure that my next ski boat will have a wake at leat as good.

So, what years/models should I be considering? What were the years when different versions of the TSC hulls were introduced, and what differnces do they have?

    Thanks!

    RE: TSC hull question

97-2001=TSC complete new hull design which was noticably better than previous hulls
2002-2005=TSC2 Hull tweaked<redesign> with strakes on the bottom near the stern
06-present=TSC3, strakes removed, Hydogate added which cleans up the wake for trick.

Lots of personal opinions on how much difference there is, and which one skis better. I've had all 3. Can't go wrong with any of them IMVHO.

      RE: TSC hull question

I just purchased a 1998 SN (TSC) last year. Having skied the other two generations of the TSC prior to this purchase, I was initially taken back that there actually was a bump behind the 98 at long line. However, once I added the acme 422 and learned to sign (get out of the corner of the observer seat) from 60 feet away, the wake disappeared and I cannot differentiate much between it and the TSC2/TSC3 wakes (at least at slow speeds and longer line lengths. Like Mike said, for slalom, you really can't go wrong. I don't trick, but if you do, I think TSC or TSC3 would be what you'd look for.

Also, if you want the GT-40, you'll need a something 02 or earlier.

I will have my current boat for a long, long time.

I bought a 2003 196 last spring (2007) and it has a tsc2 hull. If you are going to have young kids skiing with you the tsc2 hull is better at slow speeds ( 20 to 30 mph)than the tsc hull, My grand kids have been skiing the course behind a tsc hull (2000 196) and a 2004 respounce and 2001 sunsetter and my tige (what a joke in the course) for 4 years now and when I got the 2003 that is all they want to ski behind. My buddy with the 2000 sold it last year and got a new 206, and the kids don't like it in the course either. My son (their dad) thinks the tsc2 is better than the tsc but we didn't think of trying East tx skiers trick of moving to the middle of the observers seat with the bigger observer. My son thinks that the tsc2 is better than the respounce and the 206 at higher speeds 34 and 36. Not alot but better

        \"97\" tige\' 2150 (for wakebording) current boat

The TSC2 hull was the first boat I got behind that really made me say, "Wow!"

The most natural position to sit in in a Ski Nautique is right in the corner of the observer seat. Unfortunately, it throws the boat off balance just a bit and makes the wake a bit firm and uneven.

We ski behind 4 gens of nautiques.......a 96, a 2001, a 2005, and a 2007. IMO at 34mph there's a noticeable difference in the softness of the wake and bump as you go from the pre TCS, to the TCs, and then to the TCS2. The TCS hull is hands down better than the pre TCS and the TCS2 is even better than the TCS. I can't tell a difference between the TCS2 and TCS3 but the trickers seem to like the TCS3 better.
