    Getting dogs in the boat???

How do you get your dogs back in the boat? Has anyone used a Paws Aboard ladder?

Mine only weigh 25 lbs and 6 lbs....so I use the "grab em" method.

i was thinking that if the dog was to big for the above "grab em" method that i would not want them in my nautique

bigger dogs can climb up on the platform with a little assist. when they swim up to the platform and get their front paws on it push down on the top/back part of the head. they will kind of use your hand as a lever to pry themselves up. my 80 pound chesapeake climbs easily out this way. reading this, it doesn't sound like it makes much sense but it works. really what your doing is just keeping the hind legs from going under the platform. give it a try.

I have a 95 lb. lab, no problem getting him on the platform. My 14 yr. old daughter can almost help him herself.

front paws on the platform, put your hand behind the dogs head and give him a little pull, he will pop himself right up on the platform. Duck hunters use the trick all the time to get their hunting dogs back in their jon boats. I do it with my retrievers all the time.

I have a 80 lb American Bulldog and I put her in a full leather harness, and it's got a big D-ring on the back, and a big leather part, so I just use it like luggage, but with a dog in it, and pick her right up. works pretty darn good, except if you don't have a hold of her she'll jump out of the boat while you're getting set to wakeboard...

Oh, and by the way... You DON'T duck hunt from your Ski Nautique?

My Great Dane would stand behind the boat when it was on the trailer, and when I said "get in the boat", he would jump up with his front feet on the platform, bounce them off it, bounce his back feet off the platform, and land on the floor behind the motor. One time he jumped into the boat, over the side when it was sitting on the trailer.
"King" now has arthritis in his spine, and he can barely go up one step to get into the house.
He still wants to go out in the boat, and waits by the van every time he sees it hooked to the boat.

I also thought about buying a Paws Aboard ladder, but after looking at them in person, they look cheap, flimsy, and not made for large dogs. I have a big Labrador and I just pick her up using the handle on either a harness or life jacket.

Those pictures answered my unasked question. So if the dogs don't have the paw covers, does it damage the upholstery?
