To people who consider spending 10k on 82-89 Ski Nautiques..

    Don't get me wrong...

I love the 82-89 Ski Nautique...

But don't forget the Sport Nautique...

It is one of the best boats Correct Craft has ever made...

PS. I don't like the concept of spending more than 10k on 82-89 Ski Nautiques.

    Thanks,
    EJ

spend 9k on my 1990 and you can actually ski behind it, and look good driving in it! I'll admit the 2001's are a bit better to board behind.... a bit... so maybe that's why? or at least I wouldn't feel as bad putting a tower and some "air" graphics on it, and painting it with some crappy paint...

I don't like the concept of spending more than 10k on them either, and I really don't think it's necessary.
I'm looking for one myself now, been following the market for a while now, and I've seen some really nice ones move for a lot less. Unless you want one with new floors, original FCT, PP wake pro, all upgrades imaginable, auto ballast, etc, it's pretty easy to find one for a decent price.

I got mine as a single-owner, 600 hours, 1989 and it looks great and rides even better. I love it and I got it for 9,200. I know that's probably crazy sounding, but he had it listed for 13,995, which I thought was a little high. I felt really bad for this one guy selling his. I took a ride in it, before I bought mine and I was really ready to pull the trigger on this one, and it dies while we're out on the lake. So there we are, swimming it in, and this guy is just red as can be, apologizing up and down. He wouldn't return my call after that, oddly enough... I thought if it was just something minor I would buy it anyway, but I guess he was just too embarrassed.

Sold our 89 this spring with just under 600hrs, with no adds for $8500. Considering it was around 18k new we were pretty happy.

Thanks for you opinion Erik, is that your way of convincing people to buy your SNOB? Apparently people don't like the idea of spending more than $10K on your boat either.
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Hahahaha.. Squam - that's pretty funny, right there... I guess it's just buy what you're happy with... I would have really liked to have gotten an open bow, but I'm just 100% in love with my boat, and I guess that's what's important... I certainly spend a lot of time with her, and wouldn't have it any other way... Just got her a new exhaust cover, intake and blower covers, tower, sound system, rear light, re-did all the teak... gettin' her all ready. You can't beat any nautique though... my neighbor has a sport with a GT-40 and it's pretty bada$$..

I had my eye on that same boat, told a couple buddies about it as well. Since were talking sport nautiques, got mine 4yrs ago with 360 hrs 1 owner. has 575hrs on it now and running like a top. Some of the seams on the rear seat is showing wear, but the rest is perfect.

One thing I really like about my 1990 is the swim platform, no tique.

Dont get me wrong id rather have a new boat, but this one is doing me just fine and will last a good long time.

If you look hard enough you find the perfect boat.

Any direct drive in great shape with low hrs will get close to 10K with a tower all day long. If you cant afford it someone else will.

I'll jump on this bandwagon. I've got a 1989 Sport that gots about 1600 hours on it and it runs like a charm. Much of the engine was re-built at about 1200 hours, but I'm not sure everything that was done before I got it. the guy I purchased form was kind of a DIY'er. My guy who works on it says it runs great and from a mechanic's POV says it's in great shape for the age/hours. In fact, jsut this winter replaced the opriginal starter on it, only out of precaution not necissity.

I paid $12k for it four years ago and since have upgraded the tower speakers (4 - 6x9's) and stereo amps , added PP, nav light to the tower, etc. May do al lnew interior on it this sumer as well. Doesn't need it, but it would look nicer. But what I've got was all new about six years ago, jsut starting to look a little worn. I figure in another year or so I should still be able to get what I've put into it back when I sell it.

Weighted it throws a very good wake, but it is a pretty sensitive to side-to-side weight and the wake can get washed out.

Any suggestios on that? How do you guys weight yours out when riding? Depending on # people I've got about 600 in the nose, plus 400 on each side of the engine, with about 200 in the back seat. Good size, but a little washy depending on balance.

mine is sensitive to weight too. I have found 2 side sacks on each side of the engine with the butt touching the back seat is about perfect for me. As far as weight placement, I have people move around and if there is an odd number of people, I empty one side about 1/3 to 1/2 way.

                        Nice avitar STANG !!!!

I've been closely watching pricing on these 2001's as well and I find it VERY hard to believe that they get listed for more than the 1990 - 1995 SN's. I guess thats good for me b/c I prefer the 1990 boat anyways.
