Request for help with Rankin boat cover on 1990 SN

I recently purchased a Rankin cover for my 1990 SN. The cover fits the boat pretty much everywhere except the stern. Rankin sent some pegs and suggested they be screwed into the transom to secure the stern straps on the cover (see attached photo) - but I really don't want to screw anything into the hull or gelcoat.

Rankin has offered to make the stern tie-down straps longer and has suggested running them through the slats in the swim platform or attaching the pegs to the bottom of the swim platform.

What have other SN owners in this situation done? It would be great if you could post photos of your particular boat showing how you secure the cover at the stern. Thanks for any help on this.

I have a friend that had nothing but problems with them. 8 months later, he has a cover. They screwed hooks into the rubrail for the outter most straps. The next ones in are longer and go through the lifting rings. The middle goes through his grab bar (you don't have one).

He also has the tightening strap that tightens the edge down going through the mounts for the swim step. Problem is the tension has cracked and broken both of the plastic covers that close off the swim step holes.

Good luck in getting it all fixed.

U-B, I already sent you my suggestions, but Ill repeat them here in case others could use them.

On my '90, I had already removed the plexi covers under the platform, so I simply had Rankin make me longer straps and I secure them through the slats. If you dont want to do that, and dont want to drill (I wouldnt), then I suggest utilizing the lifting rings. Make up a bar with some D hooks for the straps, and attach it via ropes/clips to the lifting rings. Like this:
