BI Fly High or Sklyon Pylon

I am interested in buying a BI Fly High or Sklyon extended pylon. Needing some feedback from all as to which one I should buy. Thanks for your input!

I have the stainless BI Fly High, and have no issues with it. Not sure how old it is because I bought it used, but all the straps and latches still work perfect and I've had it over a year.

bi makes good products.my fly high is one of the first. at least 6-7 years old it doesnt even have a swivel top{witch i think is the x pole now but unsure, it looks similar on there website.. on a brackish/salt boat and it is great. no problems. but im sure skylon makes a fine product, too. there is not that much to it. i also have a fly high rack thats that old and it works good too. skylon racks are nice. i would definetly recomend a rack. im going to add speakers to pylon this year , until i can get a tower.

If you are going to buy a new one - spend the extra money and get a tower. Towers are much much better then Pylons. With a tower the boat does not get pulled around as much, and the accesories that attach to the tower enable you to get so many items off the floor.

Can someone explain how a boat gets pulled around more with a fly high, than with a tower. The attach point is in the same place. If I remember my physics right, that should mean the same forces applied to the boat. Some of us don't have $1500 dollars for a tower. I got my used fly-high for $300 buck with the racks. It may not look as cool, but it does the job, and I didn't have to worry about a new bimini either.

:bang: Yup, you DO remember your physics correctly! It's a simple moment arm. Doesn't mater how it's attached to the base.

I think some people get excited about how robust the Flyte towers look and lose sight of the fact that it is simply a high attachment point. In fact aren't the towers usually higher than the poles? Depends . If so, more mechanical advantage to the person on the end of the rope!
