    Getting a black boat

I will be ordering a mostly black nautique for the first time and was wondering if black has alot of problems with small scratches/swirels?

I have always had red or white nautiques and never had a problem with scatches on them but am a little worried about the black.

I think I am going with a red hull and black on the sides.

    RE: Getting a black boat

I suggest going to Costco or Sams club and get a big pack of micro fiber towels. Wipe the boat down with those and only those. If you drop one in the sand/dirt, throw it away. A regular towel will cause small scratches. I have had three black boats and several black cars. If you take care of them, they will look beautiful for a long time.

      RE: Getting a black boat

Two things to keep in mind with a black boat - wax it often and keep it from extended exposure to direct sunlight. I use three different waxes, a spray wax that I use weekly, plus a cleaner and a paste wax that I use two to three times a season. If your boat is on a lift keep it protected from the sun, I have a friend who didn't cover the transom area above the swim platform and now it's more graphite than black (his dock was open to the west so he got afternoon sun on the transom every day). If you're trailering your boat a black hull is a pain, there is only one way to load the boat to avoid scratches and it's time consuming, you have to float your boat above the trailer, attach the bow eye and then let the boat settle onto the trailer as you pull it out of the water.

The trailer will scratch as MikeC mentioned whether the hull is Red or Black. Mine is Blue and I now only float mine on/off to avoid scratching.

i own a large carwash and detail center---i have the cleanest boat cars and trucks in town---and i hate my black on my sante---if and when i order new---solid white!

for a store bought solution----get rainX liquid wax and use it often----it will save lots of headache---on newer boats pastey hard to use waxes are a waste of time---use an easy to apply and remove solvent based wax every few weeks and use a liquid exprass wax such as the rainX often as you can stand it----

I have a black '05 211 with over 400 hours and clean after every session with Babe's "green" using new terry towels from the local auto parts store ($12 for 24). Also, I wax at the end of the season after winterizing. I'll take a photo this weekend and post but it still looks new.

I have a lift at a lake house that I drive my boats up on and then lift them with an air pump out of the water.

Will running the boat up on the slides scrape the black on the bottom really bad? They are kinda made of that black velcro material like you see on alot of boat lifts.
