    trailer winch

    ok so the deal is
the correct craft set up on the 80's trailers really suck bad

it wants to rip the u-bolt out every time i pull it out of the water, no matter how i do it

so i welded a winch stand on it a good 5 inches above the bolt, should this eliminate the problem of the back of the boat sinking and the near death to the front of the boat
because if the front rises i could just tighten up the winch strap again once out of the water

please tell me if this will work

i dont want to try it out without getting some input

    thanks for any advice

    RE: trailer winch

We pulled our 80's nautiques out of the water 100's of times, never used the bow hook. We actually took it off the trailers most of the time. Power the boat on the trailer and hook it after the back of the boat has settled. More than likely you are also putting your trailer too deep into the water.

      RE: trailer winch

      its on a steep incline
so thats the reason of the angle

and we keep the trailer out of the water as much as possible

i will try doing what you suggested
