I'm sure this is a random question, but what size and style anchor do most of you use? I have a small mushroom style (not sure what weight), but I always seem to drift alot when anchored.

RE: What size anchor?
I use a danforth anchor and it does a good job unless it gets caught on something and is hard to retrieve. I have a 220. What boat do you have?

RE: What size anchor?
I use the BOX ANCHOR it grabs and holds no matter what. Ive tried several anchors and this one is hands down the best!

I decided to go with the Box Anchor (Small size for 18' to 30' boats)... it looks like it will do the job. I haven't had a chance to take the boat out lately so I have no testimonial, but I'm definitely going to try it out next weekend for the 4th.
Any of you with the Box Anchor, what type of rope and connection are you using on the anchor. I haven't been to West Marine to see what they have yet. Just curious.1993 Sport Nautique - SOLD 5/10

Box anchor is hard to beat if you move from lake to lake. If you're in the same lake all the time then you can get away with something cheaper that works with whatever kind bottom the lake has. The thing I notice most often is people tend to not have any chain, and don't let out near enough rope. The chain allows some give for the waves, and the line on most anchors should be about 3:1. If you do those 2 things most people would be amazed at how much better their current anchor works.
