    What size anchor?

I'm sure this is a random question, but what size and style anchor do most of you use? I have a small mushroom style (not sure what weight), but I always seem to drift alot when anchored.

    RE: What size anchor?

I use a danforth anchor and it does a good job unless it gets caught on something and is hard to retrieve. I have a 220. What boat do you have?

I use the BOX ANCHOR it grabs and holds no matter what. Ive tried several anchors and this one is hands down the best!

!997 Ski Nautique, I think it is a 20 lbs Danforth, with about a 10 foot section of chain hooked to the anchor.

I currently use a Danforth for my 206 and it works fine, but the only good place to store it is in the ski locker, so i just ordered a Box Anchor. hope its worth the money!

I also use an anchor buddy, a dock buddy and a sandspike and they all work great.

I just use a Greenfield Products tri-blade, it's probably 15 lbs or so, and I never have any problems. They're coated with something, rubber maybe?, so it doesn't ding up the boat and the mud comes off it pretty easily...

Nothing beats the Box anchor...Never have to worry about anything with that thing.

yikes that's close to 200$ for an anchor !!

my 20lbs (40$?) thingy works well even in very rough water. I got it a the dealer. nothing fancy.I must admit that the box anchor looks pretty darn good though!!!

I decided to go with the Box Anchor (Small size for 18' to 30' boats)... it looks like it will do the job. I haven't had a chance to take the boat out lately so I have no testimonial, but I'm definitely going to try it out next weekend for the 4th.

Any of you with the Box Anchor, what type of rope and connection are you using on the anchor. I haven't been to West Marine to see what they have yet. Just curious.

I got the small box anchor from overtons for $132 delivered. It is very good. Works great and does not require chain.

Did the same and just used it for the first time this weekend, With our soft bottom this anchor is rock solid. I used the anchor buddy also when we went up to camp for breakfast and that combo is pretty sweet.

Box anchor is hard to beat if you move from lake to lake. If you're in the same lake all the time then you can get away with something cheaper that works with whatever kind bottom the lake has. The thing I notice most often is people tend to not have any chain, and don't let out near enough rope. The chain allows some give for the waves, and the line on most anchors should be about 3:1. If you do those 2 things most people would be amazed at how much better their current anchor works.
