    Added Ballast

I would like to add some portable ballast to my 04 air 206 nautique. Any recommendations. What about placement in the boat. Would i have to remove any seats.

    RE: Added Ballast

Are you just trying to improve the wake a little bit or really step it up? I don't hear much about 206 owners wanting a bigger wake so you probably won't get a lot of responses. Your best route is to see what the Sport and 216 guys have done and take similar routes.

In my 2000 Air, I pretty much maxed out the space in the rear compartment + a little lead, and put a sac in the ski locker. If I am riding with 2-3 others, the wake is great, but with just the driver, I need more weight up front. A ratio of 35/65 to 40/60 front to rear works for me.

I would like to increase the wakes size alittle. Will adding some weight in the rear in addition to the 200 lbs of built in ballast work. I was trying to wake surf and I could not get a large enough wake. Do you also have to add up front. Due you think that a 400 lbs sack work in the rear of the boat...between the engine hood and the rear seat.

I've got the W705 rear seat sac put in the belly in place of the cooler. I cannot fill it all the way up, but I figure I'm getting about 400# there. The hard tanks in the rear hold 400# I think so that puts the weight distribution about 50/50 which makes the wake more meaty, but not really any taller, but you can tell a big difference.

With the hard tanks in the rear locker there is really not any other place to add weight without it being in the floor and that is not a good solution for me, but I really need about 200# more in the rear. When I have a couple of people in the rear seat the wakes get pretty good. Not like a 210 of course, but I would consider them pretty good for a 206.

I have had success wakesurfing if I move the sac to the starboard side of the motor box and fill it all the way up. Move all people to that side as well and fill up only the starboard rear tank. Run about 8.5-9 mph and I can surf the wave there on a HL Landlock - you have to work at it, but it can be done. I usually don't have enough people to let folks sit in the bow, but if I could get some weight up there I think the wave would get longer and have a bigger pocket.

        Hope that helps.
